public sex: Key West, Washington D.C., the Bible and beyond

censored

From Phillip Adler’s bridge column in The Key West Citizen today:

George Bernard Shaw said, “My way of joking is to tell the truth. It’s the funniest joke in the world.”

====================

A Republican snowbird amigo wrote to me yesterday about the Key West homeless man jailed for rape after having sex with a dead drunk homeless woman:

Jerry: Only some gutter trash would have sex in public, rape or not.”
Sloan: Hmmm, do you think Mayor Cates and the City Commission should provide homeless people with inside accommodations where they can have sex privately? :-)
Jerry: Would it surprise you if I said that my was not my intent?  There are plenty of peasants who screw in public who have homes.  I think people who use cars are also crude.
Sloan:
I think you are an uptight Puritan. Maybe the most fun sex I ever had was in public, on a couple of beaches on the Florida Panhandle, where my wife and me wuz going at it and some folks came by in boats. One boat crew went wild, jumping up and down cheering. Maybe I should make a New Year’s resolution to do more of that.
Jerry: It’s just the way I was brought up, Sloan.
Sloan: I was brought up that way, too, Jerry.
How about this beauty on www.bigpinekey.com’s Coconut Telegraph today:
Al Qaeda disbands; says job of destroying U.S. economy now in Congress’s hands] The international terror group known as Al Qaeda announced its dissolution today, saying that “our mission of destroying the American economy is now in the capable hands of the U.S. Congress.” In an official statement published on the group’s website, the current leader of Al Qaeda said that Congress’s conduct during the so-called “fiscal-cliff” showdown convinced the terrorists that they had been outdone. “We’ve been working overtime trying to come up with ways to terrorize the American people and wreck their economy,” said the statement from Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. “But even we couldn’t come up with something like this.” Mr. al-Zawhiri said that the idea of holding the entire nation hostage with a clock ticking down to the end of the year “is completely insane and worthy of a Bond villain.” “As terrorists, every now and then you have to step back and admire when someone else has beaten you at your own game,” he said. “This is one of those times.” The Al Qaeda leader was fulsome in his praise for congressional leaders, saying, “We have made many scary videos in our time but none of them were as terrifying as Mitch McConnell.” As for the future of Al Qaeda, the statement said that it would no longer be a terror network but would become “more of a social network,” offering reviews of new music, movies and video games.

Jerry:

If you substitute Harry Reid for Mitch McConnell, I couldn’t agree more.

Sloan:

I read some online, seems the sticking point was the Republicans insisting on dragging Social Security into the discussion. That was a born loser from before the idea even hatched, as far as anyone depending on Social Security benefits was concerned. Your hero, G.W. Bush, cut taxes while launching and waging a war based on false information. Nobody with a mouse brain would cut taxes while starting a war based on splendid information. Then, your hero started another war. I don’t see a move to slash military expenditures, and I lay that on the President and the Demos as much as on the Republicans. I dunno, maybe the best way to deal with this is to nuke Washington D.C. right now, while all the players are there. On the other hand, I told Lee Rhoe the other night that I sort of hope they don’t reach a deal, that they take USA over the cliff, I sort of want to see what that looks like.

Jerry:

Barack Obama has expressed willingness to use a different index for all government calculations, including social security increases, tax tables, and all sorts of benefits. While this would cost me a little, probably less than one percent, I think it is necessary as a down payment on getting benefits under control.

Sloan:

Of course, the U.S. War Machine, Inc. gets to keep printing money and making wars unfettered, without a tax increase, while Social Security is cut. The Democrats told Obama they would not go along with a Social Security cut, not because they were worried about rich Republicans who can travel overseas a couple of times a year, and have two homes, one in the Florida Keys, but because they were worried about people who barely make ends meet even with their Social Security benefits. People who live in trailers, in homes they paid for and are worried about losing if they run out of money, and so forth. G.W. Bush and all whomever backed those two wars brought this to a head, although it was headed there anyway, eventually. Obama could have slowed it down if he had stopped both wars when he took office, but he did not do that. The al Qaeda joke is no joke. It’s for real. America killed itself. These are the death throes. Better bring the troops home pretty soon, I imagine, to stop Americans from killing Americans.

Jerry:

Come on, Sloan, we have to start somewhere and reducing my social security, probably starting in 2014, by one percent is not a bid deal. By the way, I am getting a lot less return on my money than the poorest people. We have to start reducing the national debt, or at a minimum, the rate of increase. I’m not in the one percent or anywhere close to that, so please don’t use the class warfare argument to me.

Sloan:

Poor people get no return on their money, Jerry. They don’t have any money to invest. Cutting Social Security is class warfare against people who rely on it to get by. Cut Social Security on people who don’t need it to get by, if you must cut it. But for God’s sake, don’t cut military spending and wars.

=====================

Screwing the poor is okay, cutting US War Machine, Inc. is not. One nation, under God.

A second Jerry wrote to me re yesterday’s do unto others – Key West and beyond post. I was not going to use any of this below today, but his old girlfriend in Key West, a talented visual artist  who has been on my email hit list for years and whom I like and who sometimes comments on my posts, which comments I publish, came to me in a dream before dawn this morning and begged me to use what you are about to read, if you wish to read it. I doubt the Pope would care to read it, nor any Christian I know.
God complex Jerry: Profound ignorance. You should stick to things you know. School board meetings or the Sheriff race, tourism perhaps. You know nothing about the Jesus, Michael nor Melchizedek to which you refer, neither intellectually nor heuristically. Perhaps you should rename your own experiences, so as not to confuse your visions with them, because what you say about them is offensive. ?
Good work on the arrest of the homeless. You ask the right question. Just stay away from the other stuff. You have it all mixed up.
The world is not in hell. It is exactly where God wants it. The current state of the world is necessary. It is our school master. At the appointed time, the world will change. Not humanity — the world. The time of human suffering will end. “They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation and they shall learn war no more.” This shall take place at the appointed time. The Kingdom of God shall become evident to all. Like children being shown the real world for the first time.
Many are called, many are instructed by the school master. Few are chosen, few learn.
Bad Sloan: Many people for many years have found offensive what I publish on a variety of subjects. When the angels assigned to me by God find offensive what I publish, they let me know and I quake in terror. They will let me know if they agree with your earlier email, and I will let you know if that happens.
If humanity was as God wanted it to be, Jesus would not have been sent to this planet. It was because of how humanity was going that Jesus was sent to this planet. He was not heard then, in the main. He is not heard now, in the main.
The prophesy you quote, it might be accurate, it might not be accurate. Time will tell. Paul told his followers to stop having sex and making babies because Christ’s return was imminent and there was no point in sex and reproduction. If Christendom had bought into that, it would have died out in 2-3 generations.
I agree, this world is a school for humanity. So far, it looks to me humanity is flunking out, in the main.
When the angels asked me in my sleep in March 2004, “What do you think of the species?” I awoke in trepidation, said I did not like being asked that question, but since they had asked … I said the species (humanity) had lost its creativity (feminine) and was cloning itself spiritually and devolving. I said the many attempts by heaven to help humanity had failed, although a few individuals had been helped. I said if I was an example of the best heaven could do to turn around a human, after all that had been done to and for me, then heaven was wasting its time trying to help this species. But if heaven did to all people what it was doing to me, maybe 50,000 individuals would survive. (Later, I reduced that number to 5,000, and later to 500.) I said maybe the compassionate thing would be for the species to be removed from this planet and put somewhere it had a chance to move forward, instead of backward.
That is still my view, and the angels on my case have not beat me up about it, nor have they told me they agree with it, in part or in whole. I don’t know what is their position, other than what they put on me indicates to me they are still trying to wake people up, which tells me they are not satisfied with how this species is going, and since they are Jesus, Michael and Melchizedek, and since they cut me little to no slack, I give that considerable weight.
Unlike you seem to do, Jerry, I do not rely on my my mind and what I think the Bible means to get along. I rely on what those angels tell me, which nearly always is different from what my mind tells me. What they have told me about some parts of the Bible, certainly not all of the Bible, nor even most of it, makes a great deal of sense to me. A great deal more sense than those parts of the Bible made to me before the angels came into my life in a way I knew they were there.
You talk a lot about being rational, using reason. Well, how the angels explain parts of the Bible to me, and what is going on with me, and with other people, and with communities and nations, and with humanity, is rational to me. It makes sense to me. Perhaps they don’t tell it all to me, don’t imagine they do. I imagine they tell me what they want me to hear. Even so, it has completely changed my perspective, and I am glad for that, even though the quid pro quo was being enslaved and not getting my way about much of anything I wanted to get my way with.
There are reports of people in the Bible who were enslaved. They didn’t care for it. They offended people. They had a rough go. But today they are revered by Bible buffs. Yet, if they were here today, doing now what they did back then, maybe they would not be revered by Bible buffs. Jesus is revered in Christendom today, but he is not here in Christendom’s midst, stirring the pot. If he were here, stirring the pot, I imagine he would be offending many Christians, and probably many non-Christians.
I suppose it would be wonderful if all of a sudden everyone’s eyes were opened, and all of a sudden they all saw differently. Maybe it will happen, maybe not. Time will tell. Meanwhile, what is going on now is the state of humanity, and this species is devolving, and it is in hell, and by its on hand is it there. Not by God’s hand, but by its own hand it is in hell. And yes, there are a few individuals who are not in hell, but they suffer because they live in it, even though they are not of it. Hell is a spiritual situation, not a physical situation, although plenty of physical situations are pure hell. Sloan
God complex Jerry: Your angles tell you gibberish. Tell you what. Mention me to your angles. See what they have to say. Or else, perhaps they are busy with something else. Perhaps they are on vacation. Maybe they are sleeping. Neither you nor your angles even know from whom I quote these mockeries of them. Can you tell me?
Slave Sloan: The angels I named, whom you mock, watched you write your email to me, saying what I had published about Jesus and Mary Magdalene was offensive, and they watched me reply to your email, and, as I told you earlier, they will speak to me about it, if they agree with you. Personally, I am terrified of mocking Jesus, Michael and Melchizedek, although sometimes I bitch and moan to them about the way they treat me and other people. I don’t know where you got what you wrote, but Jesus, Michael and Melchizedek know, and maybe they will tell me and maybe they won’t. I ain’t in charge of what they do and don’t do.
God complex Jerry: If you repeated accurately the things which they told you, then they know nothing. Ask them, they won’t be able to tell you from where I quoted it. And if anyone should know, it is those whose names they usurp. It was one of two prophets who speak with Melchizedek even now and who dealt with this same mishmash of silly theologies thousands of years ago, who first mocked as I just did. If you knew anything about those three, you would know who that prophet is. Soon, we will all see him. He won’t be merely a figment of the imagination, but very very real, alive and walking the earth before the time appointed for the birth of mankind, the children of God.
Slave Sloan: The way your panties got all in a dither, Jerry, maybe you got hit with a bulls-eye, or maybe you correctly exude righteous indignation on behalf of God, or whatever prophet or angel or whatever you claim to represent. Send the text, or whatever, which you say backs up what you say, or don’t send it. Maybe the angels you attack want my readers to see what drives you, maybe not. They haven’t told me yet, probably won’t until tonight, in my sleep. I imagine they mostly prefer to speak to me in my sleep because that makes it rather tough for psychiatrists to say I’m hearing voices, since lots of people hear voices in their sleep. It also makes it rather tough on bible people, because some of the folks they so admire in the Bible heard voices in their sleep. Sloan
God complex Jerry: Ask your angles first. If they don’t tell you and then if you ask me directly, I will answer you plainly.
It is the people who suffer from such silliness. The spiel you make is not new to you. It is ages old. To dally carelessly with people who are hungry for water after the taste of which one never thirsts again and to give such people gall and bitterness instead is reprehensible.
Are you asking me to tell you which prophet mocked that same sort of mishmash theology thousands of years ago? Because if you know what you’re talking about, you should already know his name. That prophet was angry too, because of the needless suffering which misinformation on existential subjects causes people. People hear and they believe because they trust. To betray that trust is despicable.
That prophet was very very powerful. One of four men in the whole history of mankind, other than Jesus, who worked miracles at will. Two of whom are dead and two of whom never died. They still walk the earth. One is now 5000 years old and the other 3000. Their hair is grey, but their eyes are not dim, nor their ears hard of hearing. They are vital and look to be in their forties.
The first was there when Abraham tithed to Melchizedek and both were there when Jesus told his disciples “Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.” Then is the time for their ministry. They were born to minister at the time appointed for the changing of the world. They like Melchizedek are mentioned only briefly, but their coming ministry was explained in the riddles for kings.
Surly, now! That is enough to show you who is the prophet I quoted. If I tell you directly, how shall you learn? “How else shall I do for the daughter of my people, says the Ever Living.” but to teach and to test and to try, refine, shape and mold.
Slave Sloan: You, personally, in the flesh, in this life, have walked and talked, do walk and talk, with these two ancients, in the flesh?
God complex Jerry: No I haven’t. And if you had, saying the things you do, they’d have struck you dead. Besides, you don’t even know who they are. You’re just spouting metaphysical gobbledygook because it sounds profound. “have walked… do walk and talk, with these two ancients, in the flesh”
Slave Sloan: Well, the way you described the the two ancients, it sure sounded like you knew them personally, in the flesh.
You do not specify what was offensive in what I published today. If you find offensive that Jesus was fully a man, he loved a woman, he lay with her, and she loved him and lay with him, you say I would be struck dead by ancients you never met, for publishing that Jesus was fully human. If he was not fully human, how could Jesus minister to people who were fully human? How could he know what it was like for them being fully human, if he was not fully human? What would have been the point in him coming into human form, if not to be fully human? Anything less would have been half measure for a messiah.
Maybe you have Jesus mixed up with Paul, many Christians seem to do that to some degree. Paul was celibate, which was his way of dealing with his thorn in the flesh, which was he was homosexual, which is why he condemned homosexuality, which I don’t see in the Gospels that Jesus did. Paul also was down on his followers having sex, and he put women down below men in the spiritual pecking order, said only through her husband could a woman come to Christ. Maybe you should vent some of your spleen on Paul, who caused a great deal of trouble in the psyche of Christendom and in many of its members, still happening.
Exacerbated by 2000 years of organized male attempts to keep Christendom from knowing the real Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
No wonder Christendom is so screwed up. It’s messiah was a eunuch. It’s God is all he. It’s mother is a virgin who was immaculate her whole life. Oddly, Jesus didn’t treat his mother as if she was immaculate. I can’t find anywhere in the Gospels he spoke kindly to or about her. To the contrary, actually.
When she came to him where he was teaching one day, with his brothers accompanying her, he was told she and his brothers had come and he looked around and asked something like: Who is my mother? Who are my brothers? Then, he said his mother and his brothers were those who did the will of God, and he kept teaching and did not get up and go out to greet his mother and his brothers. Unheard of, for a Jewish man to snub his mother like that. More than that, he told the people he was teaching that his mother and his brothers were not doing the will of God.
You will love this next thing. My 6th wife, who was seriously receptive to hearing and seeing spirit beings, and I were told together, in June 2000, by Jesus, his mother, and Archangel Michael, that Jesus’ mother had molested Jesus in his youth. I was enraged. Not because it had happened, but because I knew the havoc keeping that secret had wreaked in the collective psyche of not only Christendom, but of humanity. Any poison left to hide in the subconscious ferments and rots and eats away at the soul and bleeds into the flesh in unimaginable destructive ways without any indication of the origin.
For several days before the revelation, I was telling my wife that I was getting there was an evil greater than Lucifer. Then, she said Michael told her, if Sloan could conceive an evil greater than Lucifer, then that evil existed. The next day, we were told what Jesus’ mother had done to him. That was only part of the evil greater than Lucifer.
Another other part of the evil greater than Lucifer was hiding it from humanity. Later, it came to me, that wife and I no longer were together, that when Jesus finally told Joseph what had happened, Joseph’s heart failed and he collapsed and died in Jesus’ arms, and that was why Joseph disappeared without explanation from the Gospels.
Another part of the evil greater than Lucifer was the incest gave Mary unnatural power over Jesus, and that power resulted in Jesus caving into Mary at the wedding where the wine ran out, and Jesus, against his better judgment, made more wine, the first miracle record in the Gospels, as I recall. Jesus had spent a while in the wilderness resisting the devil’s attempts to get him to make miracles and worship the devil and be given dominion over this world. That trial ended with the devil leaving Jesus, to return at a more opportune time.
Jesus’ ministry included lots of miracle making, according to the Gospels. Christendom fastened on the miracles, including a miracle salvation formula, instead of on how Jesus lived and taught others to live, in God’s will, instead of their and/or the devil’s will. Was the wedding where the devil returned a more opportune time? Was the devil personified in Jesus’ mother at the wedding? Looks that way to me, although it is arguable that a more opportune time for the devil was when Jesus despaired for a moment on the cross, and asked God why he had been forsaken?
Whether you like what you just read or not, Jerry, it makes sense to me; it explains to me what was not explained, what made no sense. It is rationale. For thinking and publishing it half a dozen times or more, I have yet to be corrected by Jesus, Michael or Melchizedek. Maybe that will happen now. If it does, I will let you know.
Meanwhile, I wonder why you don’t hold forth what Jesus said and did, since he is the main character in the New Testament, and behind the scenes was probably the main character in the Old Testament. Sloan
God complex Jerry: The statements you made in your email today which offended me In the order of greatest offense to least:
many great saints who lived on this world and tried to help people in their geographic locality, the one whose teachings had the best chance of helping humanity was St. Jesus.
This is the greatest. This is the very same for which the prophet I spoke was most angered as I was.
I imagine God has tried many more times than we know or have heard to try to reach humanity. karma I very well might experience for as long as I breathe in this body, unless the angels lift it off of me.
Melchizedek is an order of angel that comes to a planet in trouble … Melchizedek comes to a planet to prepare it for the coming of the Christ … the Christ does not come to a planet without Melchizedek … Mary Magdalene was of the Order Melchizedek
Many people on a spiritual path, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, New Age, Arcane, Eastern, whatever,… Rumi, but almost total silence about his spiritual teacher Shams,
and finally, the least,
Bride of Christ was Blood of Christ
You have no idea what blood means nor the relationship between insufficiency, death, law, curse and forgiveness. When you confuse things like this, you cause harm to those who listen to you and trust you.
Jesus was already married and divorced before he was born and planned to remarry the same woman.
He had no interest in seeking another during His ministry. The woman, her nativity was in Canaan. Her father was an Amorite, her mother an Hittite. Her childhood was horrific. She wasn’t even swaddled as an infant. She was forced to work in the fields with the servants. God fell in love with her at first sight and took her from all that. Clothed her and gave of all his wealth to her. She was beautiful cleaned up in silks and jewelry, but she was afraid. She could not get over her childhood and did not trust that God would continue to look favorably on her. She hid away the gifts God gave her, in case God would turn her away. Finally, she sought other suitors to have them the ready for when God might turn her away. For this God did turn her away. We can never keep what we are afraid to lose. God divorced her, but promised to teach her how to overcome this and to remarry her when she did.
Slave Sloan: For starters, I did not make the first statement you attribute to me; G.I. Gurdjieff made it in his novel, as I described. You also mixed up some stuff I was told and only passed along. I took a nap after last writing to you. That was when I would have been clobbered, if I had written falsely, as you accused. I was not clobbered.
God complex Jerry: You are confident that the angles you hear are good for you. How could you be wrong? When they tell you something, You decide if it is from the good ones or from the bad ones. So you will continue until you can’t continue anymore. And take as many with you as will listen. I can do nothing about it.
Slave Sloan: The angels I hear from take me to task regularly, they do not stroke my ego, they put me into situations I don’t want be put into, they don’t seem to give a shit what I think or want, and they don’t seem to give a shit what anyone else thinks or wants either, including you, Jerry. You speak to something about which you have no experience or comprehension, as if you sit on the right hand of God, which you do not. You make up alliances with Old Testament Ancients still walking on this planet, whom you never met, it turns out. I have seen no indication since I first met you that you are being led by anything but your own mind and drives. I don’t know what’s bugging you, Jerry, but it’s a lot older than the time you have known me. Be that as it may, nobody has to read a word I publish. Anyone who reads it wants to read it, as proven by they read it. There is nothing you, or anyone, can do to stop me from publishing what is given to me to air out, short of killing me. If you feel you must take that action, be my guest.
========================
When Jerry admitted under cross-examination that he did not know the two ancients, and when he continued to avoid the firebrand Jesus in the Gospels, Jerry admitted he knew nothing about God, Jesus, Michael, Melchizedek, or the Bible for that matter. His head is filled with words and noise, which would insult God if uttered by someone whose mind worked properly. Alas, Jerry’s mind is only half there. The female part of his mind is totally absent. He is insane. He also might be an uptight Puritan reacting to Jesus and Mary Magdalene getting it on hidden in plain view in the Gospels, as reported in yesterday’s do unto others – Key West and beyond post, which you should be able to reach by clicking on that link.
Flashback: During a New Testament class at The McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a private high school founded by right-wing Presbyterian Puritans, co-founder Dr. James Park McCallie, when queried by a member of the class about why so much fuss about sex being evil when there was massive fornication in the Old Testament, said parts of the Bible were wrong and would be written, and he and his wife had had sex three times during their twenty year marriage, twice was to produce children and once was for pleasure, and he had regretted the third time ever since. His poor wife. Sort of reminds me of my Southern Baptist sexually-inhibited Puritan-tormented mother. My poor father, maybe that’s why he became a drunk and a womanizer.
Maybe my mother’s Puritan upbringing caused her to molest me in infancy. Maybe that led to my molesting my younger sister, when she was five. For sure, that created karma I will endure the rest of my days, unless the angels lift it off of me.
If I had to hazard a wild ass guess, I’d guess Jerry was sexually molested in his youth, and he may or may not remember it.

After I posted all the but the very last two paragraphs above before dawn today, I took a nap and Jerry’s face came to me in a dream just before I woke up. I added the last two sentences above, then I received this from Jerry.
=============================

You keep saying the same things over and over.  You retreat to a conventional, physiological excuse for the things I say to you, because that is all you know.  This is what I have been telling you all along.
You don’t understand the things that you are talking about.  You have no appreciation for the complexity of the world around you.  If you did understand the things about which you claim to teach you would know exactly who and what I am talking about.  These are the metaphors and illusions you drawn on, but you don’t even know their origin nor their import nor their context.
You think that I take on airs only because I say things which you should know, but of which you are ignorant.
You ask me about how engines might make their own hydrogen with which to power them.  I tell you that an engine can get no more energy from hydrogen than the energy that was used to make it.  You tell me your angles think differently.  If your angels knew God, they would not think that.  They would know that God fashioned the universe to work in exactly that way.
The spirit within you is unable to overcome the flesh within which she resides.  Your flesh and bone brain, your biology, has many desires.  Some for fame and recognition.  I say this because I can call up countless emails where you continually transfer those desires to me.  If your spirit were strong, she could manage such desires.  Instead your flesh walks all over your spirit causing you to say things which are intended to garner comments like “Sloan, you’re so deep!”
These poor tender minds pay for your weakness.  They are deluded and poisoned by your spirit’s inability to manage your flesh.  They are harmed to satisfy your flesh and blood desires, yet in the end, you get nothing out of it.  It is exactly as another quote with which I am pretty sure you are also ignorant.  “You harm others with the hidden deceit that is within you, then get nothing for what you took from them.  You are like a prostitute that forgets to ask for payment.“  The prophets of God said this, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Micah and Zechariah.
We are forbidden to do any more than warn and scold foolishness such as yours, because the time is not yet.  But when the time comes, if you have not changed your thinking, you will be good for nothing but to be discarded on the threshing room floor, left in your own destitution.
Jerry
==========================
I do not know of any desires I transfer to Jerry, unless we share a frustration of not seeming to be able to make headway in the ways of this world. I wonder if the same prophets of God would have scolded Jesus of Nazareth, who confused and confounded even his own disciples, not to mention everyone else he encountered. He berated his disciples, and asked them how many times was he going to have to tell them the same thing before he left them? He and his cohorts berate me. Retreat to conventional and/or physiological is not something I ever was accused of before, but I suppose in their realms angels and archangels and so forth are conventional and physiological. While my M.I.T. PhD duplicate bridge partner agrees with Jerry about the hydrogen/oxygen thing, he is just as adamant in favor of America’s war policy and that there can be no cuts in the US military budget.
Am I to suppose that even with God some things are not possible?

This was in The Key West Citizen yesterday:

Homeless man charged in rape
BY GWEN FILOSA Citizen Staff
A 35-year-old homeless man remained jailed Friday night on a felony rape charge, after deputies said he attacked a woman who had passed out drunk on a vacant Stock Island lot the day after Christmas. Daniel Potts, originally from New Orleans, was locked up on a $75,000 bond after deputies arrived to find him still trying to pull up his pants and zip them shut, according to the arrest report. Melissa Damis said she was crossing Maloney Avenue by the fire station about 6 p.m. Wednesday when she saw her friend being raped by Potts and rushed over to pull him off, deputies reported. Potts denied that he touched the woman, but then said he had only had oral sex with her, the arrest report said. “He then stated that the witness was a ‘crackhead’ and the victim was a drunk,” Deputy Genine Hernandez wrote in the arrest report. “The suspect continued to change his story, contradicting himself in regards to his contact with the victim.” The 49-year-old woman told deputies on the scene that she was drunk and did not give permission for Potts to have sex with her. “I am nice to these people; I share everything with them,” she reportedly told deputies. “Why did he do this to me?” The woman, who was not identified by the Sheriff’s Office, was extremely drunk when deputies questioned her. She was having difficulty pulling her pants up, and could not stand on her own or hold her bicycle, the report said. She did not want to go to the emergency room for an exam and did not want a victim’s advocate to come to the scene, deputies said. She was also too drunk to make a complete written statement, other than accusing the man of trying to rape her while she was intoxicated. “She was unable to make a clear and complete thought or sentence,” Hernandez reported. In Florida, a rape committed when the victim is unable to consent due to intoxication is felony sexual battery. In Monroe County, Potts has an Oct. 30 conviction for misdemeanor theft committed Oct. 13.
========================
Some thoughts. Yes, if she was too intoxicated to consent, that would be rape even if she did consent. That aside, as drunk as she apparently was, how could she know if she went along with it, encouraged it, or was taken advantage of? Mayor Cates and the City Commission intend to force homeless people who want to turn their lives around into the new homeless shelter with with the likes of these two homeless people? I ask that question because that’s what Mayor Cates and the City Commission are doing at KOTS. That’s why I told them at a recent city commission meeting that they all need to sleep for a week at KOTS, so they know what it’s like to live with and sleep next to drug addicts.

Yesterday’s the baptism of Mary Magdalene Melchizedek and Jesus Christ post prompted this from Gloria Reiser of Quincy, Illinios, a psychic with an international clientelle, whom I have known since 1990.
Sloan,

With regard to your mention of Doreen Virtue,  I’m familiar with some of her books and many of her angel card decks.  What I’ve noted is that they are very much of a positive and light tone.  A bit too much so most of the time for my tastes.  The books are what I would term “fluffy,” (which of course is just my personal opinion).  Though there is one (title slips my mind at the moment) which is a book of short stories purported to be true reports of encounters with Angels.  That one is somewhat interesting, but  not so different from similar stories shared in many other varying places, such as perhaps Guideposts Magazine….. and/or simply from talking with ordinary people at a level where they come to feel comfortable sharing their experiences.
As for the Angels giving you a rough time and a friend/associate inferring this would be unusual or perhaps involving something else entirely… a perspective I’ve heard mentioned by Buddhist friends is that Real Dharma doesn’t always Feel Good.  It often involves deep change which is not generally comfortable, full (sometimes painful) honesty… in other words, major ongoing transformation… But this is not just a Buddhist thing.  It comes, and can come for anyone, via connection with what some might call Angels, others The Deep Soul, or God, or Goddess,  The Divine, the Universe….  just my three cents on the subject.
Gloria
Doreen Virtue
I replied:
Hi, Gloria. Thanks for your thoughtful mentations.
Basically, my sense is Doreen Virtue is very young in the spirit. Otherwise, she would have made a very different response to what I sent to her, than to send back to me promotions of her wares. I wore out between 1986 and 1989 chasing after the sort of stuff New Age prophets, healers, etc. sell. I also wore out chasing after other prophets, healers. I supposed I had to go through that to get in my stupid mind that I had to get help from God, if I was going to stay around. Not that later I did not wish many times that I had not stayed around.
Which brings me to the rough time I am having, and have been having since the angels showed up in early 1987, as I have written many times, as you well know. It took me a long time to understand that part of the rough time was karma for my own misdeeds, karma I very well might experience for as long as I breathe in this body, unless the angels lift it off of me. The other part of the rough time is the spirit work I take directly into and through my body like it’s a sewerage treatment plant, which I suppose it is in the sprit shit sense. I do not do that consciously, it simply happens, like breathing simply happens. I can no more stop it than I can hold my breath and stop breathing.
Many people on a spiritual path, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, New Age, Arcane, Eastern, whatever, want it to be easy, love and light, warm and fuzzy, get what they want by visualizing it, whatever. This might work for a while, but it is nothing more than magic and sooner or later they run out of rope and are yanked rudely back toward the god, er, dog house. It was not to flap his gums that Jesus said in the gospels such as: many are called but few are chosen; steep is the way and narrow the gate; the work is great and the laborers are few. Rumi’s poem, “The Chickpea,” which is easy to google, gives a somewhat funny Sufi view of being broiled alive by God … for a long time :-)
What continues to puzzle me is all the hooplah about Rumi, but almost total silence about his spiritual teacher Shams, who put the chickpea, Rumi, into God’s cauldron. Rumi was considered pretty far along in his own right, and then Shams came along and turned Rumi upside down and inside out. Or so I heard it told. I also heard it told that eventually the people where Rumi lived got so pissed off at Shams, I suppose he told them plenty they didn’t care to hear, that they killed him and perhaps put him out of his own misery :-)
Waaaaa!!!

Further Facebook conversation with Erika Biddle of Key West, spawned by this in yesterday’s post:
Sloan Bashinsky I imagine Jesus was the loneliness man in the history of this species, until he met Mary Magdalene. I received two transmissions about her, the first around 1991-92, from far, far away it seemed:
Melchizedek … Melchizedek is an order of angel that comes to a planet in trouble … Melchizedek comes to a planet to prepare it for the coming of the Christ … the Christ does not come to a planet without Melchizedek … Mary Magdalene was of the Order Melchizedek …
The second transmission came in late winter 2004:
Rosa Mystica
Sweet Mystery
Bride of Christ
Living water
without which God is dead
and there are no rainbows
I later came to understand, Bride of Christ was Blood of Christ
Erika Biddle That’s your interpretation. I lean more towards the ‘Jesus was gay’ theory. According to many writings he lived most of his life with his mother. 12 close male friends of whom he picked 3 who he really loved…
Sloan Bashinsky It’s not my interpretation. It was told to me by Jesus and Michael and Melchizedek, ie. Mary Magdalene. And it was told to some of my wives. And to one of my best male friends, who was Jewish. It also was reported in the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail. Gay is Christendom, with its all male Trinity.

Erika Biddle Sure so be it then…
Sloan Bashinsky The one Jesus loved most was who he first addressed after he came out of the tomb and told her to go to the disciples and tell them that she had seen him and he would be with them shortly, and Peter was really upset that a woman had been sent to tell them the “good news”, the same woman who had washed Jesus’ feet with her hair and tears, and with precious ointment she scarce could afford. Wonder what she annointed and washed him with when they were in private? Jesus sent the disciples a clear message when he sent Magdalene to tell them he was headed their way. Not that the men who reported it, and the men who later wrote it down, and the Rome  church later created wanted to tell it like it really happened. That wasn’t all they didn’t want to tell like it really happened, but they left enough in to tell it anyway, perhaps intentionally, perhaps unwittingly.
==================
Perhaps cosmic humor, Erika had written to me on Christmas Day:
Have you ever read Doreen Virtue’s “angel therapy” ? I didn’t but yesterday I overheard a conversation about clairaudient people like yourself ….
And then Erika got sent mucho transmissions I recieved past and present.
=====================

I imagine God has tried many more times than we know or have heard to try to reach humanity. In his so-called novel Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson, G.I. Gurdjieff, reputed to have been trained by a secret Sufi sect, tells the reader, through Beelzebub speaking to his grandson, of the many great saints who lived on this world and tried to help people in their geographic locality, the one whose teachings had the best chance of helping humanity was St. Jesus. I recall very well feeding that back to a Gurdjieff disciple (Gurdjieff was many years dead by then), who had told me I needed to read the book. I told her she needed to work out her beef with Jesus, instead of trying to replace him with Gurdjieff. She blanched. No way was that going to happen. I told many Americans raised as Christians, who didn’t work it out with Jesus and went into the New Age, or into Wicca, or East to a yogi guru, or to Buddha, or to Lao Tzu (Taoism), or to Rumi and the Sufis, hoping to find Jesus there, that they needed to let go of all of that and work it out with Jesus. Not with Christianity, but with Jesus. They blanched. No way was that going to happen. Maybe if someone lives as Jesus in the Gospels said to live, that is working it out with Jesus. I don’t see anywhere in the Gospels that Jesus charged people for helping them.

the baptism of Mary Magdalene Melchizedek and Jesus Christ

Holy Fire

I dropped by Good Food Conspiracy on Big Pine Key yesterday thinking a psychic fair/intuitive arts event was underway. I was a day early, it is today. I thought yesterday was Saturday.
Asked by one of the women who work there, if I was coming to get my aura read today?, I asked why would I want to do that? How would having my aura read help me? She said I would get a read on where I was. I said, a reader reading a reader?
A woman customer who works at Looe Key Tiki Bar said maybe it might help. Maybe I should have positive thoughts. I said I get up each morning and put one foot in front of the other and do the best I can with each step. I said I’d been through the positive thoughts thing many times when I lived in Boulder, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico before that. I had seen many people use that approach, it got better for a while, then all of a sudden they were in hell and didn’t know why. I told them they were in hell because they had run away from what they really needed to deal with. What was that? What I had been talking to them about for six months. Oh, that.
I told the Looe Key employee that they wanted Jesus to fix them, but I did not find that Jesus; I found the Jesus who makes me work.
I had told Marnie Brown, the owner of Good Food Conspiracy, two weeks ago that I would be glad to set up there for the fair, and I would not charge anything. She said it was just for readers. In about five minutes talking with someone who really wants help, I usually can get to the next step they need to take, and it almost always is not a step they want to take.
========================
Later yesterday, I drove down to Looe Key Tiki Bar and ordered a grilled fish Caesar wrap and fries, and a ginger ale since I can’t drink beer anymore, it makes me really sick. Attorney Lee Rhoe came in, and he joined me.
He asked what I thought about the contract for murder story in The Key West Citizen yesterday (also in today’s edition). www.keysnews.com. I said I thought there was more to it than had been reported. Lee agreed. I said I thought there was more to the charter high school principal in Key West killing herself than was reported yesterday, and again  today. Lee agreed. I said the students of that school deserve to know what is in the suicide note, because they probably are wondering if they somehow caused her to do what she did. Lee agreed.
We  talked about other stuff, including my running for office being a theatrical performance (Lee’s label), which gave me a bigger audience. I agreed.  Lee said he was going to send me something about Emanuel Swedenborg, who held forth that the crucifixion of Jesus was not a blood sacrifice as Christianity maintains. I said Christianity mostly is superstition. Lee agreed.
I did not yet receive what Lee  said he would send, so I provide this link to Wikipedia’s report on Swedenborg, who caused quite a stir in Christianity in western Europe.

============================

Here are the first few paragraphs from Wikipedia. The last sentence of the last paragraph, which I highlighted in italics, caused me to burst out laughing.
Emanuel Swedenborg born Emanuel Swedberg; 29 January 1688[1] – 29 March 1772) was a Swedish scientist, philosopher, theologian, revelator, and, in the eyes of some, Christian mystic.[2] He termed himself a “Servant of the Lord Jesus Christ” in True Christian Religion,[3] a work he published himself.[4] He is best known for his book on the afterlife, Heaven and Hell (1758).[5][6] Swedenborg had a prolific career as an inventor and scientist. In 1741, at the age of 53, he entered into a spiritual phase[7] in which he began to experience dreams and visions, beginning on Easter weekend of April 6, 1744. This culminated in a ‘spiritual awakening’, in which he received revelation that he was appointed by the Lord to write a heavenly New ChurchDoctrine to reform Christianity. According to the New Church Doctrine the Lord had opened Swedenborg’s spiritual eyes, so that from then on he could freely visit heaven and hell, and talk with angels, demons and other spirits; and that the Last Judgement had already occurred, in 1757, although this was only visible in the spiritual world, where he had witnessed it.
[8] New Church Doctrine states that The Last Judgement was followed by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which occurred, not by Christ in person, but by a revelation from Him through the inner, spiritual sense of the Word[9] through Swedenborg.[10] Swedenborg then argued that it is the presence of that spiritual sense which makes the Word Divine.[11] However, he tells us that at this day it is very dangerous to talk with spirits, unless a person is in true faith, and is led by the Lord.[12][13]. For the remaining 28 years of his life, Swedenborg wrote 18 published theological works, and several more which were unpublished. Some followers of the New Church believe that, of his theological works, only those which Swedenborg published himself are fully divinely inspired.[14] New Church Doctrine rejects the concept of salvation through faith alone, since he considered both faith and charity necessary for salvation, not one without the other, whereas the Reformers taught that faith alone procured justification, although it must be a faith which resulted in obedience. The purpose of faith, according to New Church Doctrine, is to lead a person to a life according to the truths of faith, which is charity, as is taught in 1 Corinthians 13:13 and James 2:20. However, he made no attempt to found a church.[15][16]
A few years after his death – 15 by one estimate[17] – for the most part in England, small reading groups formed to study the truth they saw in his teachings.[18] As one scholar has noted, New Church teachings particularly appealed to the various dissenting groups that sprang up in the first half of the 18th century who were “surfeited with revivalism and narrow-mindedness” and found his optimism and comprehensive explanations appealing.[19] In Earths in the Universe, it is stated that he conversed with spirits from Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Venus, the Moon, as well as spirits from planets beyond our solar system.[20] From these ‘encounters’ he concluded that the planets of our solar system are inhabited, and that such an enormous undertaking as the universe could not have been created for just one race of people; nor one ‘heaven’ derived from it.[21][22] He argued: “What would this be to God, Who is infinite, and to whom a thousand or tens of thousands of planets, and all of them full of inhabitants, would be scarcely anything!”.[23] Swedenborg and the life on other planets question has been extensively reviewed elsewhere.[24]
A variety of important cultural figures, both writers and artists, were influenced by New Church Doctrine , including Johnny Appleseed, William Blake, Jorge Luis Borges, Daniel Burnham, Arthur Conan Doyle,[25] Ralph Waldo Emerson,[26] John Flaxman, George Inness, Henry James Sr., Carl Jung,[27] Immanuel Kant,[28] Honoré de Balzac, Helen Keller, Czes?aw Mi?osz, August Strindberg, D. T. Suzuki, and W. B. Yeats. His philosophy had a great impact on the Duke of Södermanland, later King Carl XIII, who as the Grand Master of Swedish Freemasonry (Svenska Frimurare Orden) built its unique system of degrees and wrote its rituals. In contrast, one of the most prominent Swedish authors of Swedenborg’s day, Johan Henric Kellgren, called Swedenborg “nothing but a fool”.[29] A heresy trial was initiated in Sweden in 1768 against New Church writings and two men who promoted these ideas.[30] In the two and a half centuries since Swedenborg’s death, various interpretations of his theology have been made, and he has also been scrutinized in biographies and psychological studies.[31][32]
Of note is that, just as Jesus Christ, with his new teachings, was considered insane by some (John 10:20, Mark 3:21), so Swedenborg, with his claimed new dispensation, has been considered by some to suffer from mental illness.[33][34][35] “While the insanity explanation was not uncommon during Swedenborg’s own time, it is mitigated by his activity in the Swedish Riddarhuset (The House of the Nobility), the Riksdag (the Swedish parliament), and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Additionally, the system of thought in his theological writings is considered by some to be remarkably coherent.[36] Furthermore, he was characterized by his contemporaries as a “kind and warm-hearted man”, “amiable in his meeting with the public”, speaking “easily and naturally of his spiritual.experiences”.[37][38][39]“, with pleasant and interesting conversation.. An English friend of Kant’s who visited Swedenborg at Kant’s behest described Swedenborg as a “reasonable, pleasant and candid man and scholar”.[40] Of note here is Swedenborg’s statement that he was commanded by the Lord to publish his writings and “Do not believe that without this express command I would have thought of publishing things which I knew in advance would make me look ridiculous and many people would think lies.”[41]

Carrying forward that theme is a recap of Erika Biddle’s and my recent Facebook conversations re shamans, listening to angels and so forth, followed by a somewhat different revision of Christianity, which came to me by revelation. All of which I was told in dreams yesterday and last night to cover today. All the while, I am being ripped to shreds internally, as the poison in the spirit realms fights tooth and nail to keep humanity right were it is, in hell.
Erika Biddle Have you ever read Doreen Virtue’s “angel therapy” ? I didn’t but yesterday I overheard a conversation about clairaudient people like yourself ….
Sloan Bashinsky have not heard of Vitrue’s book, will google it in a bit, see what virtual says about it … I wonder if Virtue is her birth name? If so, a heck of a name to wear thru life … clairaudient as in crazy, I have heard said from time to time
Erika Biddle It’s not crazy – it’s a special gift (according to overheard conversation ) some people who have the gift get so frightened that they anything to shut it off… Missing the word “do”
Sloan Bashinsky found this on D. Virtue – “Everyone has guardian angels, and these angels perform God’s will of peace for us all. When we open ourselves to hear our angels’ messages, every aspect of our lives become more peaceful.”
Not my main experience with angel therapy, which I have received steadily since 1987, although sometimes there is peace, repose, it mostly is quite steep and grinding, and was the same for people I knew getting similar angel therapy, but then I was told in the beginning, “This will push you to your limits but you asked for it and we are going to give it to you.”
This day is going to have to change plenty for it to be cool or peaceful, last night was super rough, still underway, at end of today’s post I told that I had told the angels yesterday, several times, that what I wanted for Christmas was not to wake up today, for it to be over
Erika Biddle That would be too easy…your purpose in this life might not be fulfilled yet… Your personal struggle might end as soon as you find how to be of service.
Sloan Bashinsky Gosh, I thought being of service was, is, most of what I do. I found myself thinking a bit ago, bite my tongue perhaps, but I was thinking it, I am given the heavy lifting to do, because I was trained to do it and most shamans either don’t want to do it, or don’t know how, to do what I do. Not that they don’t do very rough work, but it seems different to me, what I hear/read of them doing, and what is given to me to do.
Erika Biddle regarding Bat(shit)crazy Shaman, yesterday I learned that the bats were the guardians of the underworld…spirits that could communicate through the Shamans and fly into the heavens. Very respected by the different pre Colombian cultures because bat shamans were able to journey through the middle, upper and lower worlds, linking all their beings..
Erika Biddle I just read this and I thought you might enjoy this quote: “When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.” ? Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Road to Daybreak: A Spiritual Journey
Sloan Bashinsky Somethings else about bats is they sleep most of the day and their natural sonar allows see great in the dark and they eat small flying insects. I told the angels a while ago, while out for a walk near the water, that on a scale of 70 (I’m 70), 70 being the most intense, this Christmas day, today, is a 69 of the Christmas days I have experienced. A younger woman friend in North Georgia, who often absorbs and carries what I am doing, called today to say she felt like she was maybe dying, her gall bladder and liver were fouled up, she had a big head ache. I said, same for me. She asked if I saw friends yesterday, I said no, and maybe not today either, given how I feel today. She said same for her. When someone is in acute distress, there is little that can be done but be therefor them, care for them physically, if they cannot do that for themselves. Although I know they mean well, Although I know they mean well, it is not comforting when people, after receiving what I wrote today, messaged me saying they hope I have a good, merry, nice Christmas. Most people I know would have been at the emergency room already. I read more about the Virtue Angel Therapy lady. She’s made it big time, it seems from her website. She stuffed her spirit gifts for years, pursued conventional success and did very well. Finally, the angels got her attention. She then She then went with the angels. I sent her something I wrote yesterday to a Christian website that had scrutinized shamans unfavorably. Said a woman friend of mine had told me about her. I envy you and Joel being down there, having what seems to be a great time in what I imagine is a very interesting place. My next to last wife spent some time there, before we met. She was the female companion with me in the taxi coming in from female companion with me in the taxi coming in from the Mumbai airport, as described in today’s raving. XOXO
Erika Biddle Travel is my way to connect to the cosmic. I was looking for a special place to ring in the anticipated Mayan Armageddon. Met these perhaps pseudo or real Shamans who were tripping on ‘Auyuhasca’ to connect with their inner selves. Or as William Burroughs described it to Allen Ginsberg, “a Yage session is space-time travel. The blood and substance of many races, Negro, Polynesian, Mountain Mogul, Desert Nomad, Polyglot Near East, Indian-new races as yet un-conceived and unborn, combinations not yet realized passes through your body….” I was on all fours convulsed with spasm of nausea and pain…”
You are not alone Sloan to go through this…XOE
Sloan Bashinsky The Cosmic comes to me wherever I am, unless I’m in a killer dark night of the soul, when there is near total disconnect from the Cosmic. Pain comes to me wherever I am, it is in the spirit realms and I absorb it. I doubt any real shaman has to use any drug to travel in the spirit realms, I never did it that way. And mostly the spirit realms came/come to me, there was/is relatively little travel to other realms when I was/am not asleep. Sorry for your writhing in pain, Ayahuasca induced or otherwise. I thought you went down there to have a vacation. If Christmas never comes again, it will be too soon for me. I only started coming out of hell in mid-afternoon, and I drove down to Key West because I had picked up an interesting young fellow walking that way on US 1 carrying a guitar in a case. While down there, I saw “Django”, which puts an entirely different spin on slavery in the Old South. I don’t figure it will be a smash hit with Confederate old times in the land of cotton are not forgotten buffs, but I bet blacks will flock to see it. Driving back up to Little Torch Key, I stopped by to see Todd German and and his lady Lesley Salinero at her home on Summerland Key, where I got quizzed about my next political action and got told I was not permitted to leave the world just yet, God and Todd had too much left for me still to do, most of which centered around Key West’s homeless people. I told Todd I needed a bigger audience, such as Bill Becker and US 1 Radio, articles in The Citizen based on journalists interviewing me, me writing guest editorials for The Citizen, just to educate. I said my websites and candidate forums do not reach a wide enough audience. I dread running for mayor again. Key West is seriously bogged down in several big spots: homelessness is one; Truman Waterfront is another; Bahama Village is another; North Roosevelt construction (perhaps a misnomer, perhaps deconstruction fits better) is another. Well, if that was my Christmas present, like I said if Christmas never comes again, it will be too soon for me.
Sloan Bashinsky I sent this by email to Doreen Virtue:
A woman friend told me about you today, Christmas, hoping I somehow might get relief from the load angels keep me under. I told her my experience with angels is very different from what she said of what you do. I publish something new daily (usually) to goodmorningfloridakeys.com. Here’s something personal I wrote to a Christian website yesterday, after reading something they had put up scrutinizing shamans unfavorably.
==================
I looked over some of your website after finding your online commentary on modern shamans. I was raised a Southern Baptist until I was 12, then my mother converted to the Episcopal church and took me there with her.
Many years later, early 1987, Christianity seemingly having failed me, as had my searching elsewhere, I prayed, “Dear God, please help me. I do not wish to die like this, failed.” I paused, said, “I offer my life to human service.” Maybe ten nights later, I awoke in the wee hours and saw two etheric white-ish beings hovering above me in the darkness. I heard, as if spoken into my mind, “This will push you to your limits but you asked for it and we are going to give it to you.” I recalled the prayer I had made. Then, my body was jolted by what felt like lightning, and there was a white flash with it. I once had been knocked down by a near lightning strike on a golf course, and it felt something like that. Then came another lightning jolt. Then came another. What I thought were two angels dissolved and only darkness remained. I’d never had such an experience.
The changes began slowly on this world and internally and in spirit. The pace quickened, and as it quickened my perspective of everything changed, and kept changing, and kept changing. Some of the earlier phenomena were spectacular and very emotional and uplifting, and some of the later phenomena were horrific and terrifying. There were several dark nights of the soul, the first was horrible, the second was far worse, as described in the commentaries of St. John of the Cross. There were later dark nights. Eventually, I came to understand the two angels who came with the message and lightning were Jesus and Archangel Michael. Ten years into it, Melchizedek joined them in a way I understood consciously.
The internal changes sometimes were violent and terrifying, imposed from the spirit realms. There was a great deal of healing of horrific soul wounds inflict on me by other people and by myself, and of horrific soul wounds I had inflicted on other people. Not everything was healed, there is karma I might live out my days with. I knew a few other people who were brought into much the same experience, two were brought very deeply into it, but it did not seem they were locked into it in the way I was. I was in it first, and they followed, voluntarily, invited by my spirit handlers named above, and not by me. I probably would not invite anyone into this experience today after how it has gone for me. Steep is an understatement.
Your website suggests you hold yourselves out as being very knowledgeable about spirit phenomena and practices outside of Christianity, and you seem dedicated to proving non-Christian practices are not really okay, nor safe. For sure, spirit experiencing is very different and very prone to getting lost and worse. I can’t begin to imagine what would have become of me if I was not ridden hard herd on by my spirit controllers, who have rescued me many times from blunders I brought upon myself thinking I was doing okay, or great, when nothing was further from the truth. For all I know, they will spank me, or worse, for even writing to you.
Sloan Bashinsky
Little Torch Key, Florida Keys
Erika Biddle hi Sloan we are now in Cartagena… different climate from 64 to 94 within 1 hour flight yesterday I was quoting something I read. It wasn’t me who experienced the pain… I wonder if Ms. Virtue will answer your e-mail
Sloan Bashinsky I received back from D. Virtue and email touting her books, workshops, etc. Not responsive to what I sent to her. Can’t say I was surprised.
Erika Biddle it’s a whole industry out there. I never relate to anyone who hawks their “gifts”. However, it was still cool listening into the conversation about people discussing hearing “angel voices” and dropping names
Sloan Bashinsky I was taught not to charge money for trying to help people with what I was taught how to do, perhaps the only exception, perhaps, is books I wrote which were published, I could take royalties on the books. Virtue’s photo on her website looked pretty staged and vampish to me. I still wonder if she took Virtue as a last name, to promote herself.
Erika Biddle my battery needs juice again soon. I need to recharge my computer…Virtue or not she looks like a movie star. I understand she lives in Hawaii…
Sloan Bashinsky She reminds me of people I ran across when I lived in Santa Fe and Boulder, starting 26 years ago. Charlatan came to mind earlier today. Your friend, Jonathan H. hawks his gifts online, I have seen him do it several times
Erika Biddle So what? If I would judge and dismiss everybody that does things that I don’t necessarily agree with I would be a just ending up as a self righteous lonely person…I try not to judge. I just laugh and go on with my own mostly agnostic Philosophy: life is service…find your own truth and follow the Golden Rule…now my phone needs juice too. Good night XOX
Sloan Bashinsky You wrote – it’s a whole industry out there. I never relate to anyone who hawks their “gifts”.
Erika Biddle perhaps the money raised through the workshops and selling books is spent not to self indulge, but to redistribute to people in need? Perhaps that might be true for Ms. Virtue as well. I don’t know and try not to jump to conclusions so fast…XOE
Sloan Bashinsky I don’t know either, because I don’t know D. Virtue or J. Horwitz. What I do know is I sent something very serious to Virtue and she sent me back an invitation to buy her products. Jonathan did not do that when I approached him. I don’t know what he does with the money he makes teaching shamanism, and I don’t feel I know him well enough to ask him, or that it’s really any of my business. What I do know is he seems to have been connected to a shaman school in America with which I have had earlier dealings, founded by Michael Harner, who I think I recalled trained under South American shamans, then opened his shaman school in America. I knew one of them somewhat, Sandra Ingerman, who lived in Santa Fe, who treated me twice with no apparent effect, and she told me what I was involved in was beyond her range. After I was getting to know Jim Hendrick, he introduced me to his sister, thinking there might be a match, as I understood it. She said, on learning that I was a shaman, that she couldn’t go down that road again. She had been with a shaman in the northeastern US, who had trained under Michael Harner. She’d seen all the dark birds she wanted, it exhausted her. Then, she same to KW and I met her and Jim and his family briefly over dinner, because I wanted to meet her. Later, I told Jim his sister didn’t look well to me. He said her cancer had returned somewhat. By the next day I knew the cause of her cancer, which was being with that shaman, who was from a school that was short in female essence, long on doing and commercing in shaman training and work, and in all the inner circle being on the corporate letterhead, including Sandra Ingerman. I told Jim the shaman and drained his sister of her female essence, not intentionally, but that was what happened, and that had caused her cancer. I told her that later. I told them she could get help from the angels, but they apparently ignored me. She seemed to me to be under Jim’s spell, he knew what was best sort of thing. I see Jonathan encouraging people to engage their causes to save this or that in the world, including the environment, but I do not see him encouraging them to look in the mirror, deal with their own shadow. That approach is not a big seller, hard to make a living at it, probably impossible. That was the shaman Jesus’ approach and what he taught others to do. I told you when you first approached me about Hidden In Plain View that I only could participate, if nobody involved was hawking their wares. Judging is not the same thing as observing what people say and do, and what they don’t say and don’t do. People tell a lot about themselves without knowing it. There always is the voice of the soul and the voice of the ego, and they can and often do use the same words with two entirely different meanings, and the ego is not aware of it, while the soul is. I hear both most of the time, and it for sure results in a lot of loneliness. I imagine Jesus was the loneliness man in the history of this species, until he met Mary Magdalene.  I received two transmissions about her, the first around 1991-92, from far, far away it seemed:
Melchizedek … Melchizedek is an order of angel that comes to a planet in trouble … Melchizedek comes to a planet to prepare it for the coming of the Christ … Christ does not come to a planet without Melchizedek … Mary Magdalene was of the Order Melchizedek …
The second transmission came in late winter 2004:
Rosa Mystica
Sweet Mystery
Bride of Christ
Living water
without which God is dead
and there are no rainbows
——————————-
I later came [with the help of my sixth wife] to understand, Bride of Christ was Blood of Christ
========================
Christianity has created a male Trinity – homosexual by practice and definition.
This species humanity is so skewed into the masculine, the women as well as the men, that there is no hope of the species turing around without a serious infusion of the feminine essence into the species and nearly all of its members, women as well as men.
That was the prayer I was asked several months ago to make for the United States of America: a divine intervention of the feminine into USA. I made the prayer, and wrote about that and said my experience with her intervening into me was very rough and I didn’t see it being different for USA.
She destroys plenty, ruthlessly if necessary, to rearrange her habitat. Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook School were some of her handiwork. She is fed up with war, guns. She is fed up with the worship of idols: money, military might, guns, power, drugs, cosmetics and plastic surgery, social climbing, striving to prove self, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual abuse, brainwashing, copycatting, …
In the Gospels, Jesus told his disciples that they could blaspheme him and  they could be forgiven, but if they blasphemed the Holy Ghost, they would not be forgiven. He knew the Holy Ghost was the feminine side of God, which the Christian church has repudiated. As has Islam. As has most of Judaism, even though in that sect’s scriptures Wisdom is assigned the female gender and the spirit of God is called Shekinah, gender female.
Jesus beat his head against a wall many times  trying to bring his disciples around, and they were still raving monkeys when he left them. But he had planted seeds, which the Holy Spirit came into them and grew them into men. Real men. And grew women into real women.
The greatest love story in human history is Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and the Christian church has obliterated it, in practice and in the New Testament; but it’s hidden in plain view there, if you have eyes that see. I don’t feel like explaining again what is lying in plain view in the Gospels about Jesus and Mary Magdalene, whose story is just as important as Jesus’ story without Magdalene, for their mating union was an effort to undo the fall, which was the loss of the feminine in this species, the rift between men and women.
Alas, Jesus and Magdalene did not complete the mating ritual. When Jesus left Palestine, how that came about also is hidden in plain view in the Gospels, Magdalene declined to go with him, because she did not wish to leave her culture, which is not in the Gospels. So Jesus headed east, alone, with a very heavy heart. Ironically, Magdalene had to leave her culture anyway, after being a follower of Jesus became a capital offense under Roman law for Christians who did not recant Jesus.
Magdalene fled, with her and Jesus’ child, to southern France, as reported in the book, Holy Blood, Holy Grail. Some of that love story Dan Brown hijacked and twisted to make a lot of money off the The da Vinci Code. Brown displayed zero knowledge of the Holy Grail and real Grail Knights and  their Ladies.
I was provided five women with many spiritual gifts, in succession, to attempt to complete that ritual Jesus and Magdalene started. Each woman was different. Each relationship was different. We were torn every which a way but loose. It was beyond human comprehension. It was driven by Jesus and the Melchizedek Order, in which Jesus is High Priest, says the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews, with the agreement of our souls, our egos’ druthers notwithstanding.
That is The Second  Coming – the completion of that “paradise mating” ritual, but you would never know it by reading the New Testament or listening to the Christian church. Or to aura readers, psychics, or anybody I know, except one young woman I met in Key West, who became known as Aphrodite.
It was clear to me that she and I were supposed to pair up, the sensations were blatant, but she was not able, or was not willing, to set aside my being 40 years older. It occurred to me maybe a month ago, if she had gone with it, she would have conceived a child the likes of which this world had not seen since Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Probably, a girl child.
There is no way not to be very lonely with all of that, and a whole lot more, inside of you – unless you are paired up with your paradise mating partner. Then, the two of you, Adam and Eve, hand in hand, began the paradise return through the purifying fire swords wielded by the two Cherubim to protect the Tree of Life and its ways. God never told Adam and Eve they could not return to Eden, but to return, they had to be purified and wise, their time of innocence in the Garden a historical event not to be regained.
That is the Grail journey.
That is the Second Coming.
Jesus and Mary Magdalene understood that. But Christianity does not. Nor does Judaism and Islam. Nor does the New Age. Nor does any other religion on this planet, although within each religion and outside of religion a few people understand and are trying to live it consciously.
I doubt anyone known to me would pay money to hear or read what I wrote today. I doubt more than a handful of my readers read this entire post. But it’s published now, on the World Wide Web and in the Akashic Record. And it’s free.

Hi again, Nick. In a nap just now over, I had several dreams indicating that you are onto something in your query re title to Sunset Key. Perhaps also title to the other properties I named. Will raise the questions in tomorrow’s post, and will alert Naja Girard, whom the angels kept bugging me to bug to keep digging into the title of Wisteria Island, which she did and finally found something that convinced the Feds that they still owned Wisteria. If something else comes to me from the “air traffic controllers” in the meantime, I’ll let you know. Sloan

Well, maybe somebody (you, for example) who lives in Key West should bring a lawsuit in Key West’s Federal Court to challenge the title to Sunset Key, Truman Annex (where you live), Truman Waterfront, Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park and Peary Court, to the extent any of the aforementioned were not deeded out of the US by GSA. I have some magik markers you can use to paint big bulls-eyes on your front and back. :-) I’m growing one tomato plant up here, it has lots of green tomatoes on it and something up here likes gnawing nice size holes in said green tomatoes. Tomatoes grow well down here this time of year, can grow them in containers on decks with plenty of sun. Nights too hot in summer down here for tomato plants to make fruit.

Probably not, if, as I understand it, the Navy deeded Tank Island (now Sunset Key) to Pritam Singh, who then sold it to the Walshes. Likewise, the Navy deeded Truman Annex to Pritam, and then Truman Waterfront to Key West, and before that the Navy deeded the land now Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park to the State of Florida. What the Bernstein’s lack is a similar deed from the Navy, or from another U.S. agency. All the Bernsteins have is chain of title going back to a trustees deed from the State of Florida to State Legislator Papy, in the face of the Navy Dockmaster in Washington D.C.’s letter saying the U.S. owned Wisteria Island, of which Papy was advised by the State of Florida before he accepted the trustees deed and paid for it. The Bernsteins’ title to Wisteria is only as good as Papy’s title to the island, given adverse possession does not lie against the U.S. That’s what is being decided in the action to quiet title the Bernsteins filed in Federal Court – who owns Wisteria Island?

Erika Biddle hi Sloan we are now in Cartagena… different climate from 64 to 94 within 1 hour flight yesterday I was quoting something I read. It wasn’t me who experienced the pain… I wonder if Ms. Virtue will answer your e-mail
Sloan Bashinsky I received back from D. Virtue an email touting her books, workshops, etc.
I still wonder if she took Virtue as a last name to promote herself.

Doreen Virtue | official Angel Therapy Web site

Erika Biddle my battery needs juice again soon. I need to recharge my computer…Virtue or not she looks like a movie star. I understand she lives in Hawaii…

Sloan Bashinsky She reminds me of some people I ran across when I lived in Santa Fe and Boulder, starting 26 years ago. Charlatan came to mind earlier today.
Erika Biddle talk to you soon again until then XOE
Sloan Bashinsky safe trip
Erika Biddle thank you off to the computer juice bar
Sloan Bashinsky your friend, Jonathan H. hawks his gifts online, I have seen him do it several times
Good night XOE

I replied:
Hi, Benton. You are welcome to tell me your story anytime you wish. I figure your trip to Kurdistan was arranged by angels, that you are supposed to go over there. I told you I doubt you really know why you are going over there and that will come to light after you are there, perhaps for a while. You said you agreed, you might not really know why. Tell Metatron to take his suggestion to take over my travel itinerary up with God, and if God wants Metatron to be my travel agent, then so be it. As I keep telling you, God’s will, not mine, be done. That’s the only safe prayer, or approach, I know. And since it’s Jesus, Archangel Michael and Melchizedek who have been my travel agents since before I met you, and since I know of Metatron only by having heard that name a few times, I am leaving it in God’s hands, and not in your or Metatron’s hands. I imagine any Sufi would do the same. Speaking of which, another Rumi poem came to me yesterday after I last wrote to you on Facebook:
What you call love
is but subtle degrees of domination.
Love is like the moon in the window,
It’s just there.
====================
I googled Metatron very early this morning and found this at Wikipedia:
Metatron (Hebrew ??????) or Mattatron (a differentiation of Metatron[1]) is an archangel in Judaism. According to Jewish medieval apocrypha, he is Enoch, ancestor of Noah, transformed into an angel. There are no references to Metatron as an angel in the Jewish Tanakh or Christian scriptures (New and Old Testament); however, Genesis 5:24 is often cited as evidence of Enoch’s ascension into an angel – “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” Although he is mentioned in a few brief passages in the Talmud, Metatron appears primarily in medieval Jewish mystical texts and other post-scriptural esoteric and occult sources, such as the Books of Enoch – 1 Enoch, 2 Enoch, and 3 Enoch. In Rabbinic tradition, he is the highest of the angels and serves as the celestial scribe.[2]
=========================
I hope for Benton’s sake that when he arrives in Kurdistan, he doesn’t start preaching the Jews’ Metatron to Muslims. And, I hope Benton doesn’t tell them he is a Sufi, or a shaman sex healer, both of which he has claimed on Facebook. Muslims take a very dim view of womanizers of Muslim women, and of Muslim women who are with womanizers; there is no telling what kind of quirky mischief the Sufis might visit on Benton, who will find out for himself, if he doesn’t have his ears and eyes wide shut, that Islam is similar to Christendom, America and Israel, which Benton has criticised.

Adding to another peachy day in Paradise today are three front page articles in The Key West Citizen – www.keynews.com. One article covers the Key West charter high school principal, mother of three children between 1 and 13, shooting herself dead, on purpose, at a shooting range in south Florida. The article says the principal left a suicide note, but no details of the note were provided. I bet she won’t like where she is now, and God help her children and their father, and the students in that charter high school. The other two articles cover a retired Coast Guard commander in Marathon hiring a Federal snitch, who was wired, to kill a Marathon real estate developer for $20,000 in cocaine. No motive as yet known, according to the articles. I sometimes wonder why somebody hasn’t paid a hit man to kill me. Maybe because I want it to happen. It’s been a long time since I felt this bad, which started Christmas day. I find myself thinking, if I had interviewed that principal for that job, I would have been told by the angels that there was something wrong and not to hire her.

Sloan – Because of you, I’ll be taking the oath of office again on January 21st. You were part of the inauguration four years ago, and I hope you’ll get involved in inaugural activities over the next few weeks — whether that’s in Washington, D.C., or wherever you call home. As we make plans, we want to make sure the people who made this inauguration possible are the first to know what’s happening — but to do that I’ll need your help. Take a minute now to make sure your family and friends join you in being a part of this inauguration. I’m honored each and every day to be your president, and I will never forget how I got here. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done. Let’s also remember why we’re here: we’ve got more work to do. And we’re going to begin this next chapter in the American story together. Invite others to join us here: http://action.2013pic.org/The-Inauguration Thanks, Barack

Before Barack secured the Democratic Nomination in 2008, I was strongly moved to contribute $2,300 to his campaign. Shortly thereafter, I realized it was the angels’ trickery, a way for them to get me into Barack’s psyche. After which, I was told in my sleep that he had the potential to be the Anti-Christ, which proved out when he accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for continuing George W. Bush’s wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. After which, I barely had a bowel movement for a month, which resolved when very rough poetry burst out of me about what Barack had done. About all of that I wrote and published a few times, and about my futile efforts to get the $2,300 back, and about my letters to Barack’s people and to him, which he did not answer. Today, I apologize for getting him elected, if I’m to believe the email somebody sent for him to me, while America goes down the tubes.

After I put all of that together very early this morning, this came up on my Facebook page:
When I was in Kakadoo (northern Australia) in 1995, an aborgine man and woman, who said they were real people, came to me out of dream time and we had a brief telepathic conversation in the midst of several white Australians who saw and heard none of it. I can understand why today’s aborigines might take offense over Morgan’s description of the tribe, given it was seriously evolved in the soul sense. I can understand why today’s white Australians might take offense for the same reason. I figured when I read Mutant Message in the early 1990s, that Morgan might have taken some poetic license, but the story rang true to me nonetheless, in the soul sense. I did not care for her second book, which I felt missed the point of the first book and was opportunistic. I wonder sometimes if she went back to her old ways after coming back to the States and gaining fame and fortune? I never conversed with her, so I can answer my own question. Sloan Bashinsky, Little Torch Key, Florida

I replied to Bennelong very early this morning:
  • Sloan Bashinsky Perhaps people who do not know dream time and the spirit world are psychotic. Perhaps what really upset some, perhaps many Australian Aborigines, was Marlo raised what all Australian Aborigines were capable of before white people came to Australia. Maybe what Australian Aborigines need is a “revival” of what their ancestors were. Maybe they would be accused of being or even feel they were psychotic if that happened. :-)
======================
After making that reply, I went back to bed and something came over me and I dozed off and had a lot of dreams which seemed to come from a different place; dreams which seemed to portend change for me and for some other people, but not for all people. I wonder if that was Metatron’s influence, or the real people’s influence, or my familiar angels’ influence, or a combination of any or all of the above? That’s all I feel okay saying about it right now.

Key West past-life regression, mostly

Truman Waterfrontcruise ship docked at the Outer Mole across from barren  Truman Waterfront in Key West, and another cruise ship in front of the Westin (cut off)

Distant in-law Ron of North Carolina replied to parts of yesterday’s Christmas hangover: batshit crazy shaman school, Florida Keys and beyond post:

BASH – Happy after Christmas season to you.  Are you  serious, KW does not allow the citizens access to the Outer Mole. That used  to be one of my favorite spots.  Hike out there from the Hyatt and hang out  like I was on a deserted island.  Walk over to the Fort and use the beach  there for swimming…. I will tell you, that water is not all that warm in  January and February, and not much better in early March.
I hope you and yours prosper in the New Year.  When you have time,  keep us posted on Christmas Tree Island and the plans for the Outer Mole.   I fear that no news regarding those two issues is not good news.
                Regards,  Ron K.
======================
The bait in the water, I bit:
Hi, Ron. Thanks, but this is one seriously rough Christmas season for me; the second roughest in my 70 years. Hope yours is going a lot better.
I was told about and started using the Outer Mole in September 2002. A bunch of us gathered at the little Truman Beach most mornings, and hung out sometimes through the day. About the only road traffic out there was Ed Swift’s Conch Trains ferrying cruise ship passengers into Old Town and back to the ship a few hours later. The Navy seemed okay with us being out there, except when a warship was in port, which was seldom, and we did not go out there then for the few days the ship was in port.
As I recall, civilians, except for Ed Swift’s Conch Trains and cruise ship passengers, stopped being allowed to go out there the next year, when there was some road work done by the City of Key West, as part of it taking over ownership of Truman Waterfront, which the Navy had given to the City, while at the last moment deciding not to give the City the Outer Mole for national security reasons. A fence and guard gate were put across the road, the entire area was fenced off with an expensive, heavy steel fence, all the way to the water next to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. At low tide, you still could walk into the Truman Waterfront area from the Park, but I heard stories of people who did it and were found in there getting a stiff tongue-lashing and worse. So I never did it.
I don’t know how long it went back that civilians were allowed to use the Outer Mole, but I think I read or heard that there was a time when it was off limits to civilians. I imagine the entire Truman Waterfront was off limits at one time, as the Park itself was Navy land originally, made from channel dredgings, as I recall. The Navy gave the land to the State of Florida for the Park, and much later gave more land to the City, which is Truman Waterfront. The Navy, I think, offered Truman Annex to the City, and the City declined and that’s how Pritam Singh ended up buying and upscale developing it, and also Tank Island, which now is Sunset Key, across a swift water channel from Wisteria Island, when the tide is running strong.
Wisteria Island
Last time I spoke with Naja Girard, maybe three weeks ago at a County Commission meeting in Marathon, she said the Department of the Interior is still holding fast to its ownership claim of Wisteria Island, which I still feel should belong to Key West and be turned into a day and night camping park serviced by a city ferry from Mallory Pier, all for a reasonable fee. I still think the Bernsteins, who say they own Wisteria Island, and their business partners, the Walshes, who own Sunset Key and the Westin next to Mallory Pier, and claim to own adjacent Admiral Cut, should get a nominal 99-year land lease from the City to put a 5-star resort on the Truman Waterfront part near the Westin, with the City gettting one percent of the resorts gross revenues. But Naja has never liked that outcome, nor have others in Key West, whom I thought would be wild for it. The only person there who was wild for it was Attorney Michael Halpern.
When I visited with Todd German and his lady Lesley  on Christmas night, Todd said Truman Waterfront is dead in the water. All the commotion, all the proposals different interest groups came forth with, the City Commission’s Truman Waterfront Advisory Committee’s hard work, and it’s dead in the water about ten years after the Navy gave it to the City.
I had hoped the development of Bahama Village into its allocated part of Truman Waterfront would work out, for that looked like a really good thing for Bahama Village and the City. But it didn’t work out and its champion Bahama Conch Community Land Trust fell into disgrace under mismanagement and finally its Director Norma Jean Sawyer being convicted and sent to prison for embezzling the Trust’s funds.
The much vaunted senior citizen retirement center, billed as an assisted living facility, never got an inch off the ground either. I opposed that all along, and got plenty of flack for doing so. I opposed it all along because it clearly was going to be a rich folks waterfront retirement facility developed by a mainland developer and filled mostly with non-Key West elders, and the mainland developer would get the land for nothing for 99 years and the City would get little to  nothing back.
Then, the Key West Spottswood family came up with the notion of putting a mega-yacht facility in the marina, without buying the land and waterfront, and without the Spottswoods being on the line for the financing, which would come from Tourist Development funds and other places, in exchange for which the Spottswoods would build a coliseum and big parking lot on about half of the remainder of the land, for concerts and whatever. Later, the Spottswoods brought in a partner who apparently had some muscle and know how with mega yacht harbors, but still I never saw them offer to take any serious financial risk, and it looked to me that if it came off and the mega yachts didn’t flock to Key West, the City would end up holding the bag. Same, if the rich folks retirement home got built and didn’t pan out. Then, it came out that the Navy didn’t like the mega yacht idea, and perhaps that was the end of it.
All in all, it looks to me that the City, in its frothing about, dodged several bullets. Hard to accept, though, that three mayors, Jimmy Weekley, Morgan McPherson and Craig Cates, and six city commissioners, some of whom are old hands, others newer hands, did not take the bull by the horns and just do something nice with Truman Waterfront, instead of letting various interest groups run the show. I would have raised bloody hell if I had been mayor, for the City Commission on which I sat, to at least build a nice public park on Truman Waterfront and let citizens resume use of the Outer Mole. I think there is a reverter clause in the Navy’s deed to the  City of Key West, which allows the Navy to take back title to Truman Waterfront if the City does not use it as originally intended. Ten years is pretty good evidence that the City will not use it as intended, or at all.
I remember in 2003, I suggested the City put a homeless facility on Truman Waterfront. Later, I suggested the City let civilians build vegetable and flower gardens out there, like you see in European cities, using recycled city water the city ran around the area for gardeners to tap into. Gardeners would pay an annual fee for their plots. The City could get a lot of fresh produce in that way, instead of buying produce grown in south Florida, California and Mexico, which is transported, stored and then trucked down from Miami and Homestead. It could be beautiful out there, but right now it looks about like Tank Island looked before the Walshes turned it into Plastic Surgery (Sunset) Key, which is what they will do with Wisteria Island if they ever get the best of the Department of the Interior and then somehow get the  County Commission and  or the City of Key West to help them do the surgery.
Meanwhile, if they do develop out Truman Waterfront, where are they going to park the cars, trucks and boat trailers during the power boat races? I bet the owners of the marinas on the Atlantic side of Stock Island, which lies in Monroe County and not in Key West, might be tickled pink to have  the testosterone boats bed down out there for the nights they are down here.
Well, you seem to have egged me back up on that rocky horse.
Sloan

When I consider the possibility of running for mayor again, I tell the angels the idea is insane. I gave the city my best shot three times, and it didn’t even make a ripple. Whoever ends up mayor next year serves only one year as part of the transition to city elections all being held when national elections are held. I’d rather move back to Birmingham. Maybe there’s stuff there I need to do. What other reason could there be for the angels having me up goodmorningbirmingham.com a little over a year ago? Shut my mouth, I’ll do whatever the angels tell me to do.
Christmas night, Todd German said I should consider making provisions for my estate to go into an endowment set up to support Keys concerns. I said my estate is small. I said I want my place on Little Torch to remain natural, perhaps an environmental outfit would like to have it, set up an outpost for studying local lizards and other wildlife – it’s just across a dirt road from a state wildlife refuge. Perhaps Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden. I said if I had an estate, I’d like to see to it that homeless people got good shoes and clothes they need. Unfortunately, I said, many homeless people receive some kind of benefit check each month and spend it on their drug of choice, instead of on something they need. They have a soup kitchen and can get free medical treatment locally. If they want to try to return to mainstream, there is Florida Keys Outreach Coalition and Samuel House. I could see leaving money to FKOC, as I know its CEO Father Steve Braddock pretty well and I trust him to hold a true course.
Right now, though, I’m leaving everything to one person, who was given to me to look out for. It’s not much to leave, and if something doesn’t happen pretty soon, I’ll be a bum again, living in my car or on the street or in a homeless shelter. I ran for mayor of Key West the first time living in a FKOC shelter. Imagine the commotion an ex-lawyer living in the Monroe County Jail running for mayor would cause. In jail for sleeping in plain view. I wonder if they would let me out to attend candidate forums.
In case someone wonders how it came to this, the answer is I paid too much for this place on Little Torch, I gave away almost as much as I paid for this place on Little Torch, which combined was about 3/4 of the inheritance I received from my father in early 2006, and the rest I used to get by on.
Meanwhile, the National Rifle Association’s answer to Sandy Hook School-like massacres is to put armed guards everywhere in public. No surprise there. I still say the way to do it is to bring home all US military personnel and station them on guard in public places throughout America. Let trained killers who work for Uncle Sam, and not for the NRA, try to stop demonically-possessed killers in America. As a bonus, lots of men, women and children in other countries will not be massacred by America’s trained killers.
At the Uzbekistan restaurant on Kennedy Drive in Key West on Christmas Day, I learned high school graduates in Uzbekistan either go to college or into the military. No other choice. I suppose that’s a college or career ready country upon graduation from high school.
It remains to be seen if the folks in Washington D.C. will pass a responsible budget in the next few days, which they should have done instead of taking a Christmas break.

cruise ship leaves Outer Mole

Cruise ship leaving the Outer Mole
Heard in my sleep last night that Key West needs to give one-half of what it takes in on the Outer Mole Pier to the Navy. Makes sense to me, it’s the Navy’s property, it ought to get half of what the City makes off of it from the cruise ship industry. However, in exchange, I think the Navy and the City should let the people of Key West resume use of the Outer Mole for swimming, fishing, picnicking, watching sunsets, etc.

I woke up around 6 a.m. today and found this on Facebook re yesterday’s post:

Christmas Day 2012, just another day on the hard rock pile for this crazy person

bat shit crazy
Benton Coons Just read the latest Florida keys…. I will say it one last time for you dear sloan… with the deepest and most sincerity I can …. from a heart that is bursting with God. …. I am asking and will ask and think you could ask too….. Send them helpers on over… Let them know there is a man MORE than willing to take over for you if I may be so bold. And yes old man you need and deserve a little rest. Happy holidays to you… May we be the Peace, sanity and Joy that our world needs…. blessings on your head, peace in your heart. gettin’ towards hollow
Sloan Bashinsky Thanks, Benton. I very much would like relief, more than you, or anyone, can imagine. However, my prayer, quite simply, is: God’s will, not mine, be done.
==================
Also on Facebook yesterday:
Erika Biddle Good morning Sloan Just thought about you and sending you some virtual love
Sloan Bashinsky need all the love I can get, virtual, up close and personal, as does everyone I know, hope you two are having a great time down there [in Peru]
If so, a heck of a name to wear thru life … clairaudient as in crazy, I have heard said from time to time
Erika Biddle It’s not crazy – it’s a special gift (according to overheard conversation ) some people who have the gift get so frightened that they do anything to shut it off…
Sloan Bashinsky found this on D. Virtue – Everyone has guardian angels, and these angels perform God’s will of peace for us all. When we open ourselves to hear our angels’ messages, every aspect of our lives become more peaceful.
Erika Biddle Cool merry Xmas my friend
Sloan Bashinsky Not my main experience with angel therapy, which I have received steadily since 1987, although sometimes there is peace, repose, it mostly is quite steep and grinding, and was the same for people I knew getting similar angel therapy, but then I was told in the beginning, “This will push you to your limits but you asked for it and we are going to give it to you.” This day is going to have to change plenty for it to be cool or peaceful, last night was super rough, still underway, at end of today’s post I told that I had told the angels yesterday, several times, that what I wanted for Christmas was not to wake up today, for it to be over
Erika Biddle That would be too easy…your purpose in this life might not be fulfilled yet… Your personal struggle might end as soon as you find how to be of service. I a Phone needs juice good bye for now XOE
Erika Biddle regarding Bat(shit)crazy Shaman yesterday I learned that the bats were the guardians of the underworld…spirits that could communicate through the Shamans and fly into the heavens. Very respected by the different pre columbian cultures because bat shamans were able to journey through the middle, upper and lower worlds, linking all their beings..
Erika Biddle I just read this and I thought you might enjoy this quote:” “When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
[And bat guano makes excellent fertilizer.] I told the angels a while ago, while out for a walk near the water, that on a scale of 70 (I’m 70), 70 being the most intense, this Christmas day, today, is a 69 of the Christmas days I have experienced. A younger woman friend in North Georgia, who often absorbs and carries what I am doing, called today to say she felt like she was maybe dying, her gall bladder and liver were fouled up, she had a big headache. I said, same for me. She asked if I saw friends yesterday, I said no, and maybe not today either, given how I feel today. She said same for her. When someone is in acute distress, there is little that can be done but be therefor them, care for them physically, if they cannot do that for themselves. Although I know they mean well, it is not comforting when people, after receiving what I wrote today, messaged me saying they hope I have a good, merry, nice Christmas. Most people I know would have been at the emergency room already. I read more about the Virtue Angel Therapy lady. She’s made it big time, it seems from her website. She stuffed her spirit gifts for years, pursued conventional success and did very well. Finally, the angels got her attention. She then went with the angels. She was the female companion with me in the taxi coming in from the Mumbai airport, as described in today’s raving. XOXO
Erika Biddle Travel is my way to connect to the cosmic. I was looking for a special place to ring in the anticipated Mayan Armageddon. Met these perhaps pseudo or real Shamans who were tripping on ‘Auyuhasca’ to connect with their inner selves. Or as William Burroughs described it to Allen Ginsberg a Yage session is space-time travel. The blood and substance of many races, Negro, Polynesian, Mountain Mogul, Desert Nomad, Polyglot Near East, Indian-new races as yet un-conceived and unborn, combinations not yet realized passes through your body….” I was on all fours convulsed with spasm of nausea and pain…” You are not alone Sloan to go through this…XOE
Sorry for your writhing in pain, Auyuhasca induced or otherwise. I don’t figure it will be a smash hit with Confederate old imes in the land of cotton are not forgotten buffs, but I bet blacks will flock to see it.
==================
To Doreen Virtue:
A woman friend told me about you today, Christmas, hoping I somehow might get relief from the load angels keep me under. I told her my experience with angels is very different from what she said of what you do. I publish something new daily (usually) to goodmorningfloridakeys.com. Here’s something personal I wrote to a Christian website yesterday, after reading something they had put up scrutinizing shamans unfavorably.
==================
There was a great deal of healing of horrific soul wounds inflicted on me by other people and by myself, and of horrific soul wounds I had inflicted on other people.

Benton Coons Hmmmm……..
The False Concept of Karma. There is also no karma.. this is a false, non light concept to attempt to holdthe evolution of humanity in circles. But there are no actual karmic laws of any kind. The law of attraction exists, sure, but karma itself does not exist, has never existed and will never exist, nowhere in the Universe. There is much deception, but all that is negative, is part of the non light. The Light knows no negativity of any kind, no war, no violence, no judgment and no ego. Light souls on Earth, incarnated into humans or animals, do know negativity, but only as outside energies that contaminate them. Once a Light soul on Earth learns how to let go of all these illusions of negativity, he awakens to his true nature, and will start his journey of healing humanity, healing the animals and healing the planet itself. That is the purpose of the Light, there is no “war” going on between good and evil.. because the Light does not have any armies, never uses violence and never causes harm. ~~~ author unknown

Benton Coons I was certain this would be one that would grab ya Mr. Sloan… ya old coot….. you follow this dance almost like you been practicing…. ready for the dip ?
Sloan Bashinsky The Sufi poet Rumi scribed a poem about a chickpea in a cauldron, which is pretty well known. It’s about being worked on by God. Rumi also scribed a poem along the lines of, “Beyond right and wrong there is a field, and I will meet you there.” My take on a lot of Rumi’s poems is, he was the audience, the voice was either God or Shams, Rumi’s spiritual teacher, who is far less well known, which seems odd if he was Rumi’s spiritual teacher. You are headed into Sufi country [Turkey/Kurdistan]. Real Sufis know God’s will, not mine, be done. It is burned into their souls. They are of Islam, but they are not of the Islam that makes war on other members of Islam, or against anyone.

Likewise, Jesus was not of the Christianity that makes war on anyone.

Here’s a “story” I lived in June 1995, a couple of days after I lived the wolves and eagles “story” reported toward the end of the recent Key West Homeless Memorial Service post. I took nothing to induce the experience, which happened during an attempt by a younger woman friend, also a friend of Benton Coons, to take me into a past life regression, which she was sure would solve all of my problems. That also was what had induced the wolves and eagle experience two days prior. Just another example of someone who thought they knew something, who tried to fix me, or tell me how I should live, being shown: “There is more in heaven and in earth, Horatio, than there is in your philosophy.”

lions
Once upon a time there lived a woman named Alya. She was the medicine woman in her tribe, using herbs and poultices and spirit ways to help her people. Yet she had one flaw: she hated lions, because once a lion had killed her father. Her hatred caused her to cast spells against lions, which caused her husband great concern. He often told Alya that her war with lions was going to get her into big trouble, but she was a medicine woman, she knew the ways of the spirits, and she did not listen to her husband. One day while Alya was out gathering herbs, she spotted a lion sunning himself in tall grasses on the savannah. She hatched a scheme in her mind to sneak up on the lion and cast a spell on him, which would enable her to steal his spirit and have it for herself. As she crept closer to the lion, she began chanting softly and seeing in her mind’s eye her spell taking over the lion. However, she was so focused on what she was doing, that she did not see in her mind’s eye the lion’s mate returning from hunting. Nor did she see the lioness catch her sent, drop her kill from her mouth to the ground, and circle around behind. Too late, Alya realized her peril, just as the lioness took her from behind. Next thing Alya knows, she is in the spirit world, standing before the Lion Spirit. Trembling with terror, Alya wants to run away, but the Lion Spirit speaks to her heart, says, “There is something you do not yet know.” Then Alya is back on the savannah, watching a hunter from her tribe sneaking up on a nest of lion cubs, whose parents are away hunting. The hunter has a twisted spirit, and decides to kill the lion cubs just for the fun of doing it, even though killing any animal just for sport is taboo in his tribe, which worships the Lion Spirit. On returning to his village, the hunter tells no one what he has done. When the lion and lioness return to their nest and find their dead cubs, they are enraged. They catch the hunter’s scent and track him back to the edge of the village, where the lion hides in a thicket and begins roaring and bellowing out his rage over what has happened. The hunter knows why the lion is there, doing that, but still he tells no one. Alya’s father, the tribe’s leader, prepares to go out and face and kill the lion, because it his duty to protect his tribe from marauding lions. And so he sets out to face the lion, even as the hunter lets him go without saying what has happened to bring this about, and that a lioness is also out there with the lion. Alya’s father quickly finds and confronts the lion, and is preparing to kill it with his spear when he is taken from behind by the lioness. In her horror, Alya helplessly watches on, even as she now realizes that her hatred of lions was completely misplaced. She feels awful. Then suddenly she is back on the savannah, stalking the lion whose spirit she once wanted to steal for herself. The lion looks up, stares into Alya’s eyes. She shakes all over, is terrified, but does not look away. Then something takes hold of her, she says to the lion, “I have lost my father and you have lost your cubs. I will be your cub.” The lion looks deep into Alya’s spirit, nods, says, “And I shall be your father, and will always protect your front.” Then beside the lion is the lioness, who says to Alya, “And I will always protect your back.”

Sloan Bashinsky From a high elevation looking down, this is true; from a low elevation looking up, it is somewhat different, made difficult, or a lot more difficult by trying to change what is being experienced and what is being seen which seems like it should be different.
Benton Coons I assumed right…. you would define it more like a problem. I don’t want to end suffering sloan U are so wrong…. Suffering is… and if my heart is not hurting lookng at all the crazy misery I see… well than I just wouldnt be the poet I am…. But it is quite obvious that we as humans are stuck in a lot of Unnecessarily misery …… and my life will always be about lifting us up out of that….  Maybe some day your angels well let you up out of the basement…. and take you out for a good view.  Be in Grace Sloan…..
Sloan Bashinsky We must live on different planets, Benton. After commenting on the guru’s (?) remarks, I remembered the taxi ride from the airport into Mumbai (Bombay) in latish June 2000, and passing by thousands of people in rags or less, lined up, sitting, lying next to each other, on cardboard boxes or nothing, over mud, as far as I could see, and wondering where they got drinking water and food, and where they relieved themselves. And then I wondered how what the guru would say, if he was one of those people. And I wondered what you would say, if you were one of those people. Don’t even go there, Benton, you have no idea what you would say if you were one of those people. You’d have to be one of them to say it. In a nap dream yesterday, I heard, “There is an Ice Age everywhere on this world but this area.”  The area where I was on this planet, other people were there, stuff was in motion.
======================
I did not write to Benton that my female companion told me on the drive in from the Mumbai airport that all she could see in the air were serpents. She had excellent spirit vision and hearing. I said those weren’t the nice kind of serpents kids see on the Saturday morning cartoons. She said, no, they were not those kind of serpents. She herself had had an Indian guru/yogi from whom she had had to be delivered by Jesus and Archangel Michael after she met me. That came about after she dreamt of her old guru sitting above her head in the lotus position, sucking her energy out of her through the top of her head. Her guru had been dead many years when she had that dream.
======================
There seems to be a very mistaken idea …. that I am going for greener pastures… crack me up… No I’m just going to a different venue to raise it up …..
Sloan Bashinsky Used the UN American history lesson, which you posted on Facebook earlier today, in the “Zero Dark Thirty – America in denial” post, a link for which at www.goodmorningfloridakeys.com I just posted. Benton, you are all over the place in your FB posts. You are going into a very dark part of the world, which is Islam. If you go over there [Kurdistan-Southern Turkey] and keep beating up on America, which certainly deserves getting beat up on, but do not put Islam in front of the mirror just as much, which it certainly deserves, if you are going over there to find a new life, new friends, new family, which your FB posts frequently suggest you hope will happen, I doubt much, or anything, will change.

Benton Coons Sloan you are not all over the place and still very predictable where you will go with the next words… Your imagination and lack of knowledge of me, my journey, and my interactions with the people of the middle east… or just simply what my draw was in the first place….. Your images of Islam  sound like Sound bites of a bad Fox news report…. If we truly want to look at the death and destruction that has been caused in the world  … in lets just say the last short 100 years…. well Certainly the Christians are 1# … funny it seems those good christian folks are always the first to send their boys of to war…. and the Christian god is as vengeful as any.  Sloan simply I can not have faith or listen much to you any more… My connection to spirit and heart that says what you continue to call angels is something else,   Not quite of wholeness. That or your angels are simply ignorant.. and have watched to much fox news. Sloan for as much as you seem to think you know what I am doing, what I about or who i am bashing.. all I can find is projection…and prejudice…. Yes my old friend…. I am finding no clarity coming towards me … and I am sorry to see that what you call God continues to drag you down the road .. for your own good. Personally my image of God is much more like mother…. yours Im sorry to say… stuck in the old testament…. I wish you Joy, Health, Peace and Stillness. I am leaving the conversation with you. and as I continue to say in the deepest of truth… send them over I am more than willing … and you sir could surely use some rest…. and some Joy.   Peace upon you old brother.
Sloan Bashinsky Godspeed, Benton
===================
I met Benton in 1994, when I lived in Boulder, Colorado, around the time a little book I called A Crazy Person’s Bible fell out of me. The angels used that little book to help me understand that the only way I could love God was to be crazy, because no sane person could deal with the stuff God was laying on me. For some time, I’ve been feeding Benton the crazy person Jesus from the New Testament.
====================
As for the Old Testament, a Republican snowbird amigo replied to yesterday’s Zero Dark Thirty – America in denial post:
Most of the vetoes concerned our support for Israel, who lives in a very difficult world.  It’s disappointing to see how few the Obama Administration has cast.
I wrote back:
Hi, Jerry -
Looks to me that about one-half, give or take, of US’s UN Resolution vetoes concerned Israel.

One US veto listed was: 1985 Measures to be taken against Nazi, Fascist, and neo-Fascist activities.

America’s Israel dilemma is clear. America supports and/or defends Israel at the risk of retaliation from Israel’s long time sibling enemy dating back to Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael in Genesis. That history may mean nothing to Americans, but it means a great deal to Judaism which descended from Isaac, and to Islam which descended from Ishmael. In Genesis, God told Abraham a great nation would be made of Ishmael’s seed, which would cause the great nation made from Isaac’s seed trouble. Islam views that as a command from God to cause Judaism trouble. The sibling war will not resolve through US involvement, nor from UN involvement I don’t imagine. It might never resolve. If Americans want to keep kicking that hornet nest, which is Islam, then that’s their prerogative, but they should do it with their eyes wide open, instead of wide shut.

From Nashville J yesterday:
Sloan:
Merry Christmas!
J
PASS THE BISCUITS
When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now & then & I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work.

On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed!
Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don’t remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I’ll never forget what he said: “Honey, I love burned biscuits.”

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned.  He wrapped me in his arms and said, “Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she’s real tired. And besides… A burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!”
You know, life is full of imperfect things… And imperfect people. I’m not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else.  What I’ve learned over the years is that learning to accept each other’s faults and choosing to celebrate each other’s differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.
So…please pass me a biscuit. And yes, the burned one will do just fine! If you want, pass this along to someone who has enriched your life…I just did!
Life is too short to wake up with regrets… Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don’t.
ENJOY LIFE NOW – IT HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE!
I wrote back:
Hi, J – Merry Christmas this is not shaping up to be – yet, but it’s only the day before. Love your burnt biscuits story. Wish I had gotten to meet your father, and your mother. Maybe some day you and I will meet in person. Maybe if the Sandy Hook shooter had had parents like yours, he would have turned out differently. The angels told me to love everyone, but the angels perspective of love is a bit different from what I thought love was before the angels got a hold of me. Love seems to come in different wrappers depending on different situations. Today’s “Zero Dark Thirty” post probably didn’t seem loving to many, if any, people. A little while ago, I blessed out a Keys fellow on the phone. He’s been asking for help with something, and I’ve told him I would get it done for him, but he keeps doing other things that get in the way, and finally I let him have it, hoping it would wake him up and accept what I told him I would do, which is to get him back to his daughter and grandaughter in your state, where he’s been pining to be for over a year now but has not the means to get there. Living in the Keys is not working for him, it is blatanly obvious. He called to wish me a Merry Christmas and I gave him burnt bisquits. Maybe how my Christmas is going had some play in that, but maybe I would have said it the same way last August under the same circumstances.
Sloan
J replied:
The burnt biscuits was a pass along from someone else – althought my Mom was always a great mom and good to me (Dad dies when I was 4 so I don’t have many memories).  I guess I should have put “author unknown” on it.
Hope you day and Christmas improves – hopefully the angels will sing on Christmas day and not be on you to do something else.
regards,
J
I replied:
If the angels sing to me tomorrow, it will be the first time they did that on Christmas since they snatched me in early 1987. Usually, they make Christmas especially trying, and then somewhere in there they throw in a few bright moments.
===================
In a nap dream before hearing from Jerry and Nashville J yesterday, I dreamt I was talking with an older woman who might have been my 7th and 8th grade science teacher, Mrs. Bagley. She was to my right. Directly in front of me behind a desk was the young psychiatrist who’d had the unenviable task of trying to treat me during a killer dark night of the soul which rose up from out of a warm sea in a dream and ran from February 1997-June 1998.
The good head doctor, whom I liked even though he was killing me with his pills, had never heard of the dark night of the soul. When I left his care, I told him that he’d never had another patient like me, had he? He said that was true. I asked if he knew why? He said he didn’t know why. I said, because there wasn’t anything wrong with me but God messing with me.
In the dream, I told the elderly woman that God had turned me every which a way but loose so many times that I probably should just go ahead and say I’m crazy, since everyone already believes I’m crazy. The young psychiatrist burst into friendly laughter. The dream ended.
His wife was a psychiatrist, too. They were Methodists.
I told a mainland woman friend last night that Christmas in America is nothing about Christ. She agreed. She said she dreamt the night before that the sea was really angry, the waves were acting crazy. I said that was in keeping with an apocalyptic dream I’d had the night before, which I reported in yesterday’s Zero Dark Thirty – America in denial post.
My recollection is it was that kind of angry sea on which Jesus reportedly walked, and then invited Peter to join him there, and Peter took a step or two out of the boat and lost his nerve and started to sink, and Jesus chided Peter and he regained his nerve and joined Jesus standing on the waves in the angry sea. Then, the sea calmed, as I recal.
I imagine most Methodists today think, believe Jesus and Peter actually walked on that angry sea. I imagine most Christians today think, believe that.
After coming out of the killer dark night and leaving my psychiatrist, through an elder Christian intercessor I met a country minister who said he agreed: the Bible is an inside teaching and if you approach it as an external event you miss the whole point.
The sea is massive, it represents the emotions, the unconscious, spirit. It is very angry in there today, maybe even angrier than in Jesus’ time. I really don’t see the coming of the light making many Americans sing joyfully; but don’t put any stock in what I say, I’m crazy; and Jesus was born in Capricorn (late December) and not in Pisces (early March), and had nothing to do with fish or the sea therefore.
However, I think the burned bisquit story has a great deal to do with Jesus, even though it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the decorated tree someone stuck at the end of the story.
So far, this Christmas reminds me of Christmases since the angels grabbed me in early 1987.
So far, it looks like Benton’s good wishes for me are not panning out. Maybe he’s right. Maybe I am stuck in the Old Testament.
Several times yesterday, I told the angels that I hoped what I got for Christmas was that I didn’t wake up today. That it was over.

Zero Dark Thirty – America in denial

Osama bin Laden
I went stir-crazy yesterday afternoon and got in my car thinking I might wander up to Big Pine Key and then over to No Name Key. But reaching US 1, I turned right and headed down to Mako Road on Ramrod Key and drove out to the “blue hole” at the end of that road and found the expected gathering of locals on a pretty afternoon.

A fellow had a pot of lobster soup he had made, which was to die for. But when he offered me a beer, I said I had to decline, because an hour after drinking it my liver and GI tract would cause me to feel like I was dying. He said that was awful. I said it was awful, but it was so. If I could have had a beer or  two, I would have stayed with those weathered Keys people, but not being able to do that anymore, I headed back to US 1, where I turned right and headed to down to Cudjoe Key to see if Sandy Downs was home.

Yep. We talked a while about lots of stuff, and finally we got to the Sandy Hook School massacre. Sandy said maybe the shooter saw the number of deaths caused by Hurricane Sandy and decided to try to out do that at the school. I said maybe so. Then, Sandy blamed the shooter’s father, which was unfathomable to me, given what I had read online and seen on TV.  But then, maybe the boy was rejected by his father and that somehow was in play.  I made my goodbyes and headed back toward Little Torch Key.

Then, I decided to go on up to Good Food Conspiracy on Big Pine Key and get a fruit smoothie. It was nearly 5 p.m. and I figured they were shutting down, which they were, but  they made the smoothie even as a flood of customers showed up. This is a health food store and the conversation was not where I was.

I left feeling I had left a planet on which I did not live. I thought about the blue hole on Ramrod Key and said to the angels that I was more connected to those locals, they were on the ground, whereas the people at the health food store were not. I said Sandy and her family were on the ground, until Sandy blamed the father of the Sandy Hook shooter. Maybe Sandy didn’t go high enough up the ladder. Maybe she really meant our Great White Fathers in Washington D.C., and now our Great White half-white Father in D.C.? I turned in last night wondering why I’m still on this planet where I feel so alone?

Sleep brought a very rough and quite long apocalyptic dream, in which environmentalists and soldiers and just about everyone else, including me, were beating it down from a forested mountain fleeing a fiery black-smoke-belching female-fire-goddess holocaust coming down off the mountain close behind us. I managed to stay somewhat ahead of it, while most others were consumed. Then, the dream shifted and I was with my third wife, in a bathroom, and it seemed we were close but not entirely on the same page, and there was something written down, and there was something I had written below it, and I was trying to call to memory what I had written, when I woke up something after 6 a.m. I went online and found this Facebook Christmas Eve cheer from Benton Coons, whom I had known when I lived in Boulder, Colorado, when I was with my third wife.

==========================

I wrote a few times before, that when I lived in Boulder, 1987-1995, my already Vietnam-influenced jaundice view of US foreign policy and activity turned far darker when President George Bush told Americans on national television that he could not allow the American way of life to be put at risk. Kuwait’s oil wells and production, not the liberation of the Kuwaiti people from Saddam Hussein’s army, was why American troops were headed to Kuwait. That occurred after Ross Perot, on Larry King’s TV show, begged President Bush not to do it. Perot said Kuwait was not worth one American soldier’s life. Perot said Saddam Hussein would sell Kuwait’s oil to the US, Arabs always would sell their oil to the US.

My jaundice turned even darker when it came out on national TV that the US Ambassador had as much as told Saddam Hussein that the US would not intervene if he invaded Kuwait. Saddam Hussein and President Bush had been buddies when Bush headed the CIA. President Bush called Saddam Hussein, Saddam on national TV.  Not Saddam Hussein, not President Hussein, but Saddam. They were on a first-name basis. Saddam Husse in felt he was set up by President Bush, I felt Saddam Hussein was set up by President Bush, and I imagine all of Islam felt Saddam Hussein was set up by President Bush. Yet Arab countries kept selling their oil to the US.

I wrote a few times before, that the week after 9/11, the angels told me the US needed to get out of the Middle East altogether, and to stop supporting Israel altogether, and to let Israel and Islam work it out or shoot it out. That angel advisory has not changed. The US kicked a hornets’ nest, which is Islam. The US keeps kicking that hornets’ nest. The US is batshit crazy, and 9/11, Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook School spawned from that insanity. More horror will spawn from that insanity. As you sow, you reap.

The new movie “Zero Dark Thirty” will provide plenty of fertilizer for that firestorm, because it does not go any deeper than the various groups of people I was with part of yesterday afternoon. I doubt the coming of the light in 2013 will please many Americans. Perhaps 2013 will become known as America’s Zero Dark Thirty, which movie the TV news this morning says portrays the US as using torture methods to get its intel to find Osama bin Laden, and US Government leaders are upset about that because it will color Americans’ view of their country.

Benton Coons does not believe Osama bin Laden was behind 9/11. Benton believes Israel and/or the CIA did it. Benton is fixated on the fact that Osama worked with the CIA when he led the Mujahideen against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Once a CIA ally, always a CIA ally Benton apparently believes. Benton does not seem to understand Islam, which views itself as the only true religion and all other religions and peoples as infidels. A Muslim, Osama never belonged to the US, which he used to defeat the Soviets. Osama then designed 9/11. It was a brilliant attack and strategy. It drew America into two ruinous land wars in Muslim countries, which made Osama feel like he had died and gone to heaven.

Small minds, American minds, view the killing of Osama bin Laden as a victory, as justice. Small minds, American minds, do not see Osama won and America lost. Small minds, American minds, do not see, will not see, just how badly America lost.

Merry Christmas.

HOMELESS MEMORIAL SERVICE

It is more blessed

From The Key West Citizen yesterday:

Mayor recalls classmate who died homeless

Service held for 53 poor, homeless who died this year

BY GWEN FILOSA Citizen Staff

gfilosa@keysnews.com

Mayor Craig Cates arrived at the city’s cemetery Friday to take part in the annual memorial service for those who die homeless only to trip over one name on the list of 53 indigent dead. “Charles Russell,” Cates said from the podium at the dignified ceremony held under blue skies between two walls of white stone vaults. “He was one of my good friends in school.” That’s when Cates, 59, choked up for a moment, pausing as he absorbed the fact that a childhood pal who grew up to struggle on the streets for years died without family to bury him. “He had mental issues and still was a proud person,” Cates said. Russell, nicknamed “Charlie Duck,” who over the years slept outdoors in Old Town backyards, sheds and alleys, died Nov. 7 at Lower Keys Medical Center. He was 60, and known by locals as a lover of dogs and a regular at Sunbeam market at the corner of Fleming and White streets. “I didn’t know he had died,” said Cates, after the service when he found himself choked up while reading the city’s proclamation declaring Friday in honor of the homeless and poor who died on the island this year. Friday’s annual service, led by the Rev. Steve Braddock, president and CEO of Florida Keys Outreach Coalition, including a reading of the first names of the final count, 53, who were cremated via county funds and placed in vaults at Key West Cemetery. The list included two infants, a girl named Mercedes and an unnamed baby boy. The average age of death, not including the infants, was 56. Fourteen were homeless, according to a report by the county’s Social Services division. For $900 each, the county collects the bodies and searches for next of kin before taking care of the cremations and burials. Last year’s list held 71 names. “No one should have to live alone or die alone or be buried and interred alone,” said the Rev. Larry Schenk of Peace Covenant Presbyterian Church, during the eulogy. “Many of us don’t know any of these people, at least not by name. Most of us are here because of our common humanity with them.” Schenk’s final words to the group of more than 60 that gathered silently for the service were: “Be kind to one another.” The memorial, along with one in Marathon and another in Tavernier, were the work of the Monroe County Homeless Services Continuum of Care, which recently formed to become the lead agency for nonprofits when it comes to receiving federal grants. Some families who couldn’t afford to bury their own, didn’t want full names used during the service, Braddock said. Since the cremations and final resting place are paid for by taxpayer dollars, Friday’s burial list is public record. The majority were not homeless, but rather from families too poor to hold a funeral or died without any next of kin that officials could find. The list included Waldemar Pacheco, 52, who died in a Monroe County jail in March, and Guadalupe Montiel, 47, whose body was found floating in Key West Harbor in October. Also remembered Friday were Colleen Rose Knoth, a native of Grosse Pointe, Mich., who died at age 33 on Jan. 2, within the hour that Terril Schmidt, 47, was found dead on his couch. Schmidt was found in his rented apartment in Old Town surrounded by empty booze bottles on the floor and couch where he was found seated, head back. Friends of Knoth said she, too, had an alcohol dependency that likely contributed to her death.The county medical examiner hasn’t yet released a specific cause of death. But the mayor and several locals Friday afternoon were shocked to learn that Charlie Duck had died. Cates had known Duck since high school, when the two teens hung out together. “I grew up on Fleming and he grew up on Eaton,” Cates said, naming the classic Key West streets of the two men’s childhood homes. “Everybody knew Charlie.” The nickname came from Russell’s signature walk as a kid, which had a touch of waddle to it, like a duck, said Cates. Cates found Charlie planting his campaign signs both times he ran for the two-year term. Charlie also knew where to find the Spanish lime trees, the mayor said. Cates said that he figured that Charlie had someone who would bury him when he died. Also during the service, Cates briefly noted that the City Commission is dedicated to improving services for its homeless residents. There are plans, recently approved by the commission and long-held by Cates, to begin taking steps to build a 24-hour comprehensive shelter on Stock Island. Cates said, “We’re doing what we can, I believe, to move in the right direction.”

======================

During the service, one of the ministers thanked Gwen for writing articles which keep area homeless people from being hidden in plain view.

After the service concluded, I told Craig Cates that I was sorry about his friend. Craig said he had only just learned that his friend was homeless. I wondered if learning that might move Craig to tell his city and its police to be kinder to homeless people, who are not causing other people trouble? KOTS can only sleep maybe 1/3 of the Key West area homeless people. The other 2/3s need to be allowed to sleep, too, wherever they bed down, outside, in their cars.

The service was exquisite, rising to the level of the Hidden In Plain View homelss art, poetry and music exhibition. Divine music and singing was provided by local harpist Melody Cooper. Here is the prayer Father Steven Braddock spoke after Melody’s invocational medody:

=======================

One Human Family 2

I invite you to pray with me to the God of your personal understanding, tradition and experience.

Loving God, Yahweh, Allah, Abba, Jesus, Krisna, Shang Ti, Higher Power, Great Spirit, Source of all Life and Love; we call You by these and many other names, for You have created us as many people.

We gather on this longest night of the year to stand in the light of Your love, Your Comfort, and Your hope. We gather to remember and pray for all homeless individuals and families, here and across our nation who have no place to call home tonight; those who live on the streets and in parks, in shelters or cars, and on borrowed sofas.

We gather to remember each one who must worry about where their next meal is coming from; whether health care and medicine will be affordable or available; whether the next paycheck will be the last; whether help will be there when in is needed most.

We gather to remember each one who has died. To remember the thousands who have been lost on the streets from exposure, or violence, or neglect.

And, we gather to remember and to mourn these fifty-one people who died while homeless and after living in poverty in our community. Each of them was known by name, and each will be called by name again today.

These were persons who were mostly unknown to each other. Some were known to many of us, others not. They came from differing places and situations. They represent varying ages, ethnicity and genders. They suffered various afflictions of the body, mind and spirit.

What they all shared in common were lives deeply impacted by the scourge of poverty and homelessness.

Dear God, help us to see Your face in the eyes of every homeless person we meet; so that we may be empowered through word and deed, and through the political means that we have, to bring justice and peace to those who are homeless and hurting.

Give us courage, individually and together, as your one human family. Give us the courage to speak so that their voices may be heard.

We pray that we who still live may always be a part of the world’s light and not its darkness, its faith and not its fear, its love and not is hate. So that we may know in new and deeper ways that we are indeed One.

In Your many names, we pray. Amen

Several other local ministers also spoke eloquently. I also asked Rev. Larry Shenck to email me his elogoy,  which Steve Braddock sent to me yesterday morning.

I replied:

Thanks, Steve, Larry sent me his eulogy in an email a little while ago, and I replied that I thought I would write tomorrow about the memorial service and include your prayer and his eulogy and perhaps a bit more. It was an exquisite memorial, rivaling Hidden In Plain View. Sloan

homeless vet

Daffy Duck, a Viet combat vet  [not in this photo, that's another Viet vet], retired fireman and retired businessman still suffering tremendous post-traumatic shock from Vietnam. He lives in his van in Key West, when he doesn’t have a place to stay inside. He travels about, up and down the Eastern Seaboard and perhaps some inland. I met him in the soup kitchen line when it was at St. Mary’s, a while before that church revolted and made Dorothy Sherman move the kitchen out to Flagler Avenue. Daffy gave me my first bicycle, which he had recycled from a junk pile, using maybe 2 or 3 bikes to get it working okay. Later, he gave me another recycled bicycle, when I needed one. Saved my butt, having those bicycles, which I could not afford to buy even at deep discount recycled prices. Daffy seems able to make himself invisible, hangs out places and hears all sorts of stuff, some of which he passes along to me, most of which I publish. I have heard from him about Mitchell before, and I have heard about Mitchell from other people. From all I’ve heard, Daffy told it pretty good.

=====================

Officer Mitchell needs help, and it would be a kindness to him and to homeless people for him to be given a beat where he is not as likely to encounter homeless people.

From Rev. Schenk yesterday:

Sloan,

Thank you for requesting a copy of my words at yesterday’s service. It is always a very moving service and attended by so many well-meaning and hardworking people who are supportive of those in need.

Thank you for your frequent words in defense of them as well and for your willingness to take on the tough subjects of our community not only addressing them, but offering yourself as one who will step up to do something about them.

Below are my remarks. Happy holidays and a terrific 2013 to you and yours.

HOMELESS MEMORIAL SERVICE

THERE ARE TWO PASSAGES FROM HOLY SCRIPTURES THAT I’D LIKE US TO KEEP IN MIND AS WE PAUSE TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE DIED AMONG US, AND WHO WE HAVE COME TO HONOR AND REMEMBER TODAY.

ONE IS FROM THE JEWISH TRADITION:

“A WANDERING ARAMEAN WAS MY ANCESTOR; HE WENT DOWN INTO EGYPT AND LIVED THERE AS AN ALIEN…”

AND THE OTHER IS FROM THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION:

“THE SON OF MAN HAS NOWHERE TO LAY HIS HEAD…”

BOTH REMIND US THAT FOREVER THERE HAVE BEEN THOSE AMONG US, WHO ARE ALIENS, OUTCASTS, MARGINALIZED PEOPLE, SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF US, YET IN THE VERY MIDST OF US.

THIS WAS SO BRILLIANTLY BROUGHT HOME TO US RECENTLY IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY THROUGH ARTIST, PHOTOGRAPHER, ERIKA BIDDLE’S EXHIBITION, “HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW.”

AS TOUCHING AND MOVING A TRIBUTE AS THAT WAS, EVEN IT CAME UNDER FIRE BY SOME, THE TARGET OF ANIMOSITY AND SARCASM FROM THOSE HIDING BEHIND THE ANONYMITY OF THEIR COMMENTS IN THE CITIZEN’S VOICE.

BY WAY OF CONTRAST, LET ME TAKE A MOMENT AND OFFER A WORD OF THANKS: I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK REPORTER GWEN FILOSA OF THE KEY WEST CITIZEN, WHO IN DOING HER JOB SO WELL, KEEPS THOSE WHO ARE HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW, BEFORE ALL OF US ON A REGULAR BASIS.

A TRADITIONAL WAY OF DEALING WITH ENEMIES, ALIENS, OUTCASTS, ANYONE WE “DON’T LIKE” IS TO DEHUMANIZE THEM – MAKING THEM LESS THAN OURSELVES.

TO DO SO MAKES IT MUCH EASIER FOR US TO IGNORE THEM, NEGLECT THEM, ABUSE THEM, HATE THEM.

BUT IT IS ALWAYS THAT WHICH IS UNIVERSAL, OUR COMMON HUMANITY, THAT IN THE END, WE CANNOT DENY OR ESCAPE, AND WHICH FINALLY MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO RECOGNIZE ALL AS ONE.

THAT WE ARE BORN, LIVE, AND DIE.

THAT WE LAUGH, LOVE, AND CRY.

THAT WE NEED FOOD, DRINK, AND REST.

MOST OF US HERE THIS AFTERNOON PROBABLY KNEW ONLY A FEW OF THOSE WHO HAVE DIED AND WHOSE NAMES WILL BE READ IN A FEW MOMENTS FROM NOW.

IN FACT, MANY OF US, PERHAPS EVEN MOST OF US HERE, KNEW NONE OF THESEPEOPLE, AT LEAST NOT BY NAME.

MOST OF US ARE NOT HERE BECAUSE WE KNEW THEM AND LOVED THEM FOR WHO THEY WERE, WE ARE HERE BECAUSE OF OUR COMMON HUMANITY WITH THEM.

WE ARE HERE BECAUSE NONE OF US SHOULD EVER HAVE TO LIVE ALONE, DIE ALONE, OR BE BURIED/INTERRED ALONE.

AND WHEN THE NAMES OF EACH OF THOSE WHO HAVE DIED ARE READ, THEY WILL NOT BE ALONE; WE WILL BE HERE FOR THEM.

AND IN A MUCH TOO BRIEF A WAY, A FAR TOO ISOLATED WAY, A KNOWING WAY TOO LITTLE ABOUT THEM WAY, THEY WILL BE WITH US AS WELL.

IT IS NOT ENOUGH, BUT IT IS SOMETHING.

I SUPPOSE WE COULD SAY THAT THEY REPRESENT ALL OF THE HOMELESS AMONG US – THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE, THOSE HERE AND ELSEWHERE, THE LIVING AND THE DEAD;

I SUPPOSE WE COULD SAY THAT BY OUR BEING HERE TODAY WE WILL COMMIT OURSELVES, RECOMMIT OURSELVES, TO DO BETTER BY THOSE LIKE THEM IN THE FUTURE;

AND IN SO DOING, HONOR THE LIVES OF THOSE WE HAVE COME TO INTER TODAY;

AND THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN; AND THERE’S CERTAINLY PLENTY TO DO.

WONDERFUL PROGRAMS, STELLAR AGENCIES, IMPRESSIVE PLANS FOR THE FUTURE BY THE CITY AND COUNTY AND THESE PARTNER AGENCIES, OFFERING ALL OF US EVEN GREATER OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED, TO BE INVOLVED, TO STAY INVOLVED.

BUT TODAY – THIS DAY – ON THIS LONGEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR – THAT IS NOT REALLY OUR PURPOSE FOR BEING HERE;

WE ARE HERE TO BURY THE DEAD WHO HAVE DIED HOMELESS OR INDIGENT AMONG US.

THE WOMEN, THE MEN, AND YES, EVEN THE CHILDREN, WHO HAVE DIED, HOMELESS, ON OUR STREETS, HIDDEN, BUT IN PLAIN VIEW, EVERY DAY.

51 LIVES – 51 SOULS – 51 HUMAN BEINGS LIKE OURSELVES WHO:

WERE BORN, LIVED, AND DIED;

WHO LAUGHED, LOVED, AND CRIED;

WHO WERE HUNGRY, AND THIRSTY, AND RESTLESS.

EACH LIFE A JOURNEY.

EACH JOURNEY A STORY.

EACH STORY A LIFETIME OF LIVING.

THEY ARE THOSE WHO HAVE WANDERED AMONG US – ALIENS – WITH NO PLACE TO LAY THEIR HEADS…

UNTIL NOW – IN THIS PLACE – AND BETTER – IN WHATEVER LIFE BEYOND THIS LIFE IN WHICH WE AND THEY BELIEVE.

THOSE WHO LIVED AND DIED AMONG US – NOW ALIVE FOREVERMORE.

THAT IS OUR HOPE. THAT IS OUR FAITH. THAT IS WHAT MANY OF US BELIEVE, AND WHICH WE HOLD TRUE.

AS THEIR NAMES ARE READ IN A FEW MOMENTS I WOULD ASK THAT WE HOLD THEM IN OUR HEARTS, MINDS, AND SPIRITS…

THAT WE WOULD TREASURE THEIR MEMORY AND GIVE HONOR TO THEIR LIVES…

THAT WE WOULD STAND WITH THEM – NO LONGER AS ALIENS AND STRANGERS AMONG US, WITH NO PLACE TO LAY THEIR HEADS – BUT AS THOSE WHOM GOD HAS WELCOMED HOME.

LET IT BE OUR PRAYER, AND OUR WORK, THAT THIS TIME NEXT YEAR, THERE WILL BE FEWER NAMES TO BE READ.

ONE OF THE STORIES COMING OUT OF THE TRAGEDY IN NEWTOWN, CT, ONE WEEK AGO TODAY IS THAT THE PRINCIPAL OF THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WHO DIED TRYING TO PROTECT HER STUDENTS, IS SAID TO HAVE CLOSED HER MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THE INTERCOM, EACH DAY, ALWAYS WITH THE SAME WORDS:

“BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER, FOR THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF ALL.”

BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER…

======================

I replied:

And thank you for saying those words yesterday. It’s looking like I will write about yesterday’s service, in tomorrow’s post, and it will include Steve Braddock’s opening prayer and your words, and probably a bit more. Will send you a copy. Here’s what was arranged for today’s ravings, with a little help from a Key West friend and words of encouragement in dreams last night. Sloan

Heavy Wait – dark transit into the light

Jesus with leper

In a nap dream yesterday, I heard, “There is an Ice Age everywhere on this world but this area.” There was more in the dream, stuff in which I was involved and getting more involved with other people. Ice Age would mean, spiritually frozen. Perhaps regarding homeless people, perhaps generally.

I’m glad they didn’t ask me to speak at the memorial service. I might not have been eloquent. I might have said, “These departed homeless people might be far better off now, than they were in this life. They might be better off now, than any of us here today.”

However, for homeless people, and for all people who feel their backs are against a wall, I was told in a dream last night to share this “story” I  lived in June 1995.

=======================

eagle and wolfOnce upon a time there lived a man named Joseph, who grew tired of living with people and left his village and went into the woods to live. By and by, a wolf pack discovered Joseph and over time got to know him and that he was not like other men, and eventually they took him into their pack. The leader of the pack was a red wolf named David, and soon David and Joseph became fast friends, and they hunted and played and slept together like . . . wolves. Then one day, the men in the village where Joseph had lived learned from hunters that Joseph was living with wolves. The men decided that it was not right for a man to go off and live in the woods and run with with wolves. So they got their guns and set off to find Joseph and bring him back to the village, to live like a man. The men came upon the wolf pack sleeping in the sun next to a bluff. The wind was blowing off the bluff, away from the wolf pack toward the men, which prevented the pack from scenting the men as they approached. By the time the wolf pack realized the men were there, the men had the pack surrounded, pinned against the bluff. David wanted to order the pack to charge, but Joseph said, “No, I am a man, they will listen to reason, let me go and speak with them.” Although David did not like this idea, he agreed to it because Joseph was a man. But the men would not listen to reason and they shot and killed the entire pack and took Joseph heartbroken back to the village. Joseph languished in the village for many weeks, blaming himself for the death of his pack. Then he had a dream in which he sees David’s face. David is angry, but says nothing, just stares. Finally, Joseph blurts out that he did the best he knew how to do, and he’s so sorry for the way it turned out! David says, “Better that we attacked and died like wolves, than be slaughtered like sheep!” Then Joseph is back with the pack, against the bluff, surrounded by the men. David says he wants the pack to attack. Joseph says, “And I will lead the charge!” Then they hear a voice, the whole pack hears it say, “There is another way, ask for another way.” Never before have Joseph, David or the pack had such a thing happen, but Joseph asks for another way. Suddenly, a great bolt of lightning strikes the ground between the pack and the men, stirring up a huge cloud of dust. As the wolves and men wait, the dust begins to settle, and in it begins to take the shape of something huge, even as the wolves and Joseph now see a pair of red eyes peering from the bushes behind the men. Then a second pair of red eyes. Then a third pair. Then ten pair. Then a hundred pair. Then a legion of . . . wolves eyes. The men now are moved by some force to turn around and see what the now delirious pack already see. Then they turn back around and find themselves face to face with a great towering eagle, whose piercing golden eyes penetrate their hearts. Then they hear, “These are my battle angels. You may leave this place and go back to your village, taking your guns with you, on condition that you tell everyone what has happened here today, and that no man should ever hunt wolves again, who are not hunting men.” To this condition the men readily agree, and they return to their village and tell everyone what happened, and they go to nearby villages and tell it, and from that day on men do not hunt wolves.

Heavy Wait – dark transit into the light

Rick Boettger of Key west replied to yesterday’s the coming of the light: there are far worse things hidden in plain view than being homelelss post.

Sloan, I clicked on your link to Publish America to buy HEAVY WAIT, but I couldn’t find any way to actually buy a book.  Help me out here.  Sorry, probably something like when I go the grocery store and have to ask someone to show me the kind of tomatoes Cynthia wants that are indeed right in front of me.

I wrote back to Rick:

Subject: HEAVY WAIT: A Strange Tale

Morning, Rick

I just now went to www.PublishAmerica.com. Near the top across the page are a number of departments listed in blue type, one is “online book store” – click on that and scroll down to the bottom of the page which comes up and enter either Sloan Bashinsky or Heavy Wait in the Search box and click on that, which should take you to a Heavy Wait page. As you will see, PublishAmerica categorizes the novel under “Law Enforcement”, “Spiritual” and “Romance”. Clicking on HEAVY WAIT: A Strange Tale should take you to the shopping cart.

I also checked www.Amazon.com and entered Sloan Bashinsky in the Search blank, and that took me to several books I have written, a copy or two or few more of each of those books seemed to be in their inventory. Heavy Wait was at the bottom of  that list. Probably, you can get the book quicker through Amazon, maybe in a few days, if they have any in inventory. PublishAmerica is a print-to-order bookseller, and their delivery time could run 4-6 weeks.

I told the angels yesterday that Heavy Wait is the best novel I wrote, the best I could write, the most important novel written in this century, and I didn’t see any point in my writing novels given how it ended up. The “hero” is a pretty fair plaintiff lawyer, who has his world view rearranged a few times not by his choosing. Set in Birmingham and Port St. Joe and Apalachicola, it covers a few store fronts and water fronts, and a strange tale it indeed is. Like I could write a tale that wasn’t strange.

Some people who read it said they felt maybe some of it wasn’t entirely made up. I said maybe they were right.

Sloan

P.S. Maybe I should have said the “hero” was a trial lawyer, instead of a plaintiff lawyer.
Rick wrote back that he had found HEAVY WAIT at Amazon.
Heavy Wait
===================
In yesterday’s post, I wrote that after Hurricane Michelle brushed Key West, I was moved to Birmingham.
How that came about was an old trial lawyer amigo in Birmingham emailed me out of the blue, to see what I was up to. We went back a ways, had walked down some pretty rough trails, sometimes together, sometimes not, some times of this world, sometimes not.
He asked how I was doing and I said terrific, if not having any money is terrific. He offered to pay my way to Birmingham, put me up in a motel near his new law office. I had worked in his old law office for a few months in 1999, sub rosa mostly. So he wired me enough money and some change for me to get to Birmingham on Greyhound.
He was having a really rough go in his personal life, and he mostly wanted me up there to help him with that. I went into his office every day, we talked, and I started getting involved, sub rosa, in some of his firm’s cases, as had happened in 1999. After a week or so in the motel, he paid the fee for me to stay in the Brother Bryan Mission, a men’s shelter in downtown Birmingham, where I did a brief evening devotional a couple of times a week, when there were no local ministers available to do longish revivals.
As I recall, I was the only white client. I told them during the first devotional that I was raised by a black woman, who was a behind the scenes leader in the Birmingham Civil Rights movement, but I did not know that until much later. I said while I could not know the trials of being black, I had been tested, was being tested. I said we all are tested, and the only way I knew to get through it was to listen to God’s voice and to heed it. I encouraged them to do the same.
My friend told me that when he spoke to the man in charge of Brother Bryan’s about my staying there, a white man, he told the man I was a holy man. The man asked my friend how he knew that? My friend said he could see it in my eyes. The man at Brother Bryan said, yes, he had seen it in my eyes, too.
I stayed at Brother Bryan’s three weeks, until something happened that enabled me to get an apartment about a mile to the south side of my friend’s law office. I worked in his firm until the next February, when something happened that caused me to feel that I had done all I could for him and his firm.
I had a copy of the HEAVY WAIT manusript, and had run a few more copies off on his firm’s copying machine. Although he had, at my suggestion, read and really been moved by The Spear of Destiny, by Trevor Ravenscroft, and Hostage to the Devil, by Father Malachi Martin, my friend said he was afraid to read HEAVY WAIT, and as far as I know, he never read it.
I suppose in a way his fear was justified, him being a pretty fair trial lawyer himself, with special expertise in Alabama politics and state elections, and state and federal prosecution of elected and wannabe elected Alabama politicians. We worked on one very big of those cases while I was there. He also had top security clearance with the US Government related to him sometimes defending Americans charged with treason, but he did not handle such cases while I was there.
He passed away about a year after I moved on. I hoped he was in a better place.
Right, the sub rosa work I did in his firm was not exactly the kind of law work I learned in law school and practiced in Birmingham. His law associates thought I was really weird when I first started showing up for work each morning, but when they found out I was leaving, they came to me and asked me to stay. Maybe I should have hung tougher with my friend during that terrible trial. But, as I said, I felt I had done all I could and it was time for me to move on.
That pretty fair trial lawyer in HEAVY WAIT had himself a terrible trial, too. The scribe for that tale was Sloan Young, the toughest, truest man I have ever personally known. Sloan Young went to Birmingham after Hurricane Michelle, to work in his old dear friend’s law firm. The fellow he later became, due to the same angels who told him to become Sloan Young telling him to become Sloan Young Bashinsky, Jr. again, is a wannabe. But that’s another strange tale altogether, bits and pieces of which I have told in various email ravings and later in posts at goodmorningkeyswest.com and goodmorningfloridakeys.com.
Meanwhile, saw this on Facebook yesterday:
The NRA President’s solution for Sandy Hook massacres is to arm and train guards and station them in every school. The NRA President said the NRA will be glad to train the guards. The NRA president did not say who was going to pay for the guards and their guns and ammo. I suggest we save the NRA the trouble, and save arms manufacturers the additional profit, and bring home America’s armed forces, for which we already are paying to wage wars that never should have been started, and station a squad of them in every American school. However, I don’t see how that will stop a  sniper with a deer rifle and scope from picking off students, teachers, road patrol guards and parents letting off and picking up children when school starts or lets out. Then, what about rocket-propelled grenades and fertilizer car bombs? Maybe the braveheart NRA President ought to arm himself and guard the school nearest him. Better still, maybe he ought to be on the front lines in Afghanistan. Maybe that dark night might wake him up. But then, maybe not.
